Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO RESTORE AND PROTECT BARNEGAT BAY AND ITS ECOSYSTEM. WE ADVANCE OUR MISSION BY BEING A STRONG AND INDEPENDENT VOICE FOR THE BAY THROUGHOUT THE WATERSHED, INCLUDING ALL OF OCEAN AND PART OF MONMOUTH COUNTIES. WE DO THIS THROUGH EFFECTIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND TARGETED ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS THAT ENGAGE OUR SUPPORTERS WHO CHERISH THE BAY AS A NATURAL, RECREATIONAL, AND ECONOMICAL RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY AND ALL OF NEW JERSEY. OUR SUPPORTERS GENEROUSLY BACK THE WORK OF SAVE BARNEGAT BAY, GIVING US FLEXIBILITY AND A STRONG FOUNDATION FROM WHICH TO GROW.

TO RESTORE AND PROTECT BARNEGAT BAY AND ITS ECOSYSTEM.

ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNSCONTINUED OUR WORK WITH STATE LEGISLATORS TO PUSH FOR AND EVENTUALLY PASS A NEW STATE LAW THAT ALLOWS FOR STORMWATER UTILITIES TO BE CREATED TO ADDRESS NUTRIENT POLLUTION IN BARNEGAT BAY. ENGAGING ON ISSUES OF INTEREST TO THE COMMUNITY: ATTEMPTED SETTLEMENT TALKS THROUGH THE ASSISTANCE OF RETIRED JUDGE IN APPELLATE DIVISION COURTS ON OUR APPEAL OF THE FORKED RIVER BAYFRONT CAFRA PERMIT ALLOWING A COVER ON THE BEACH WITH A REVETMENT AND GABION STRUCTURE INSTEAD OF A LIVING SHORELINE. WE LOST THE SUIT; CONTINUED THE EFFORT TO OPPOSE A CONFINED DISPOSAL FACILITY IN EAGLESWOOD TOWNSHIP WHICH IS ON-GOING, INSTEAD OF APPLYING THE SAND MATERIAL ON A LOCAL SHORELINE; WORKED IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT ON THE "FAIRWAYS" PLANNED DEVELOPMENT COMMON PROPERTY AND/OR STORMWATER OPEN SPACE THAT ENDANGERS THE BAY, KNOWN AS THE EAGLE RIDGE GOLF COURSE IN LAKEWOOD, CONTINUING ON AMICUS BRIEF; PRESENTED ENVIRONMENTAL EXPERTS TO IDENTIFY SENSITIVE WETLAND, GROUND WATER, AND SHOREFRONT LOCATION FOR A PROPOSED 80 FOOT TALL BANQUET FACILITY USE AND BUILDING IN BRICK TOWNSHIP AT BARNEGAT BAY MARINA. HELP HARVEY CEDARS TO PURCHASE A NATURAL SEDGE ISLAND SPIT OF LAND ON JAMES STREET FOR PRESERVATION. HOSTED A THREE-DAY LONG CONFERENCE CALLED CHARTING A COURSE FOR BARNEGAT BAY FOR ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPATED IN MANY LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MEETINGS, ISSUES AND PROGRAMS RELATED TO THE PROTECTION AND RESTORATION OF BARNEGAT BAY. ASSISTEDNEIGHBORHOODS WITH LOCAL QUESTIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. INCLUDING RAIN BARREL GIVE AWAYS.

PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS DIRECTLY REACHED 6,000 PEOPLE IN 2019. WE GAVE 40 PLUS PRESENTATIONS TO SCHOOL GROUPS AROUND THE WATERSHED, 13 PROGRAMS WERE PRESENTED TO JUNIOR SAILING PROGRAMS AND YACHT CLUBS. WE REACHED OVER 300 COLLEGE STUDENTS.HOSTED 24 PUBLIC PROGRAMS. ENGAGED PEOPLE IN 34 TOWNS IN THE STATE OF NJ. CONDUCTED 85 SAVE BARNEGAT BAY PRESENTATIONS OR EVENTS. ATTENDED 46 PUBLIC AND PARTNER EVENTS. EDUCATED OVER 2,128 STUDENTS IN 16 TOWNSHIPS WITHIN OCEAN COUNTY. AWARDED STUDENT GRANTS TO 6 PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR FOR THE INDEPENDENT, WATER QUALITY AND SEDGE ISLAND MARINE CONSERVATION ZONE TEAM PROJECTS.

PROJECTSCONTINUED TO MAKE TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS, DEVELOP THE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND MAINTAIN THE GARDENS AT THE ECOCENTER. MADE UPDATES TO JANET'S GARDEN AND EMILY DECAMP HERBARIUM AT ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK.
