THE INDEPENDENT COLLEGE FUND OF NEW JERSEY (ICFNJ) EMPOWERS DESERVING STUDENTS TO REALIZE THEIR GOALS BY STRENGTHENING NEW JERSEY'S INDEPENDENT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WITH SUPPORT FOR STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS IN PROGRAMS, SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATION. THE ICFNJ PARTNERS WITH THE CORPORATE AND PHILANTHROPIC COMMUNITIES TO SUPPORT ITS 14 MEMBER INSTITUTIONS AND TO BROADEN FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR AND AWARENESS IN INDEPENDENT HIGHER EDUCATION.
INDEPENDENT COLLEGE FUND OF NEW JERSEY RAISES CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION PHILANTHROPIC SUPPORT AND DISTRIBUTES IT TO THE 14 MEMBER COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. THESE FUNDS ASSIST THE MEMBER INSTITUTIONS IN ACHIEVING THEIR EDUCATIONAL MISSIONS.
PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES REPRESENT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS GIVEN TO STUDENTS ATTENDING ONE OF NEW JERSEY'S 14 REGIONALLY ACCREDITED, INDEPENDENT, NON-PROFIT, FOUR-YEAR DEGREE GRANTING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY AND GRANTS GIVEN TO THESE MEMBER INSTITUTIONS TO PROMOTE PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION, IMPLEMENT TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES, INSURE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT, BUILD GLOBAL AWARENESS, PROMOTE COMMUNITY SERVICE AND ENCOURAGE LIFELONG LEARNING. FUNDING HELPS FULFILL THE GOAL OF EDUCATING STUDENTS WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ECONOMIC, ETHICAL, INTELLECTUAL, AND CULTURAL ASPIRATIONS OF NEW JERSEY AND SOCIETY. 55.5% OF ALL ICFNJ COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY GRADUATES STILL LIVE IN NEW JERSEY. THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE INDEPENDENT HIGHER EDUCATION SECTOR HAS BEEN CALCULATED AT LEAST $3.5 BILLION STATEWIDE. NEW CONSTRUCTION AND CAMPUS FACILITY RENOVATIONS CONTINUE THE TRADITION OF POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO NEW JERSEY'S ECONOMY BY NEW JERSEY'S PRIVATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.IN 2019, INDEPENDENT COLLEGE FUND OF NEW JERSEY AWARDED 136 SCHOLARSHIPS AND 38 SPECIAL PROJECT GRANTS. IN ADDITION, IT RAN VARIOUS PROGRAMS INCLUDING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM, TALENT PIPLELINE, AND A CAREER EDUCATION FAIR. UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM SHOWCASES THE WORK OF STUDENTS WHO ATTEND NEW JERSEY'S INDEPENDENT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. ICFNJ-FUNDED SCHOLARS CONDUCT IN-DEPTH RESEARCH ON A WIDE VARIETY OF TOPICS ALONGSIDE LEADING FACULTY ON THEIR CAMPUSES. HELD AT LIBERTY SCIENCE CENTER, THE URS PROVIDES THESE TALENTED STUDENTS WITH A FORUM TO PRESENT THEIR FINDINGS TO A TEAM OF INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS WHO VOLUNTEER TO JUDGE THE EVENT. IN 2019, THE SIXTH ANNUAL EVENT SHOWCASED THE WORK OF 49 STUDENTS REPRESENTING NEW JERSEY'S INDEPENDENT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. TALENT PIPELINE BRINGS CAREER SERVICES, ACADEMIC DEANS, FACULTY AND COLLEGE PROFESSIONALS TOGETHER WITH INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS THAT ADDRESS THE GAP BETWEEN COLLEGE EDUCATION AND CAREER READINESS. RARE INSIGHTS ARE SHARES REGARDING CORPORATE RECRUITING STRATEGIES, CAREER SUCCESS TOOLS AND WAYS TO ADDRESS THE GAP BETWEEN COLLEGE GRADUATION AND A FIRST JOB. THE 2019 SPEAKER LIST INCLUDED ICFNJ PRESIDENT LOU MANZIONE, PH.D.; JENN GUERIN OF TRANE NY/NJ; JESSICA WILLARD OF INGERSOLL RAND AND JAN PERCIVAL OF ACCENTURE. STEFANI THACHICK, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN NEW JERSEY, AND COLLEEN MALLOY, PORTOFOLIUM, JOINED THE EVENT VIA CONFERENCE CALL. PERCIVAL OUTLINED A FREE DIGITAL LEARNING AND CAREER READINESS PLATFORM, SKILLS TO SUCCEED ACADEMY, WHICH ALLOWS PARTCIPANTS TO WORK VIRTUALLY THROUGH A SERIES OF CAREER ADVANCING OR DELAYING TACTICS. GROUP DISCUSSION OF INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FOR COLLEGE GRADUATES FOLLOWED. EDUCATION CAREER FAIR BRINGS JOBS TO STUDENTS. THE SECOND ANNUAL EDUCATION CAREER FAIR WAS HELD ON THURSDAY,APRIL 25, 2019 AT SETON HALL UNIVERSITIES BETHANY HALL. THE EVENT WAS OPEN TO STUDENTS AND ALUMNI FROM EACH OF THEFOURTEEN INDEPENDENT INSTITUTION IN NEW JERSEY AND AFFORDED ATTENDEES AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE WITH EMPLOYERSFROM OVER 40 SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
