THE WILLIAM PATERSON ALUMNI ASSOCIATION IS DEDICATED TO:-PROMOTING WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY BY CONNECTING WITH MEMBERS.-PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO INTERACT WITH THE UNIVERSITY IN ORDER TO ADVANCE THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH.-CREATING AWARENESS AND LOYALTY THROUGH PHILANTHROPY AND SERVICE IN SUPPORT OF THE IDEALS OF THE UNIVERSITY.
THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION IS AN INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION COMPRISED OF WPU ALUMNI WHO DESIRE, AMONG OTHER INTERESTS, TO CONTINUE AND EFFECT AN INSTITUTIONALLY COORDINATED ADVANCEMENT EFFORT AT THE UNIVERSITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE UNIVERSITY.
THE WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO SHOW ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND DEMONSTRATE FINANCIAL NEED. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO AWARDS GRANTS TO UNIVERSITY FACULTY AND STAFF TO ENHANCE STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND ACADEMIC PROGRAMS. THE ASSOCIATION MAINTAINS CONTACT WITH OVER 81,500 ALUMNI BY SPONSORING REUNIONS AND SPECIAL EVENTS, OFFERING PRINT AND ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS, AND MARKETING VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ITS CONSTITUENCY AND FOSTER A SENSE OF COMMUNITY.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PROVIDED THE UNIVERSITY WITH FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF ITS AREAS OF GREATEST NEED. VARIOUS GRANTS WERE MADE TO THE UNIVERSITY TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING AREAS: ALUMNI ASSOCIATION RETENTION GRANT ($18,600): THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH SMALL OUTSTANDING BALANCES ON THEIR STUDENT ACCOUNTS REMAIN ENROLLED AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY BY BEING GIVEN A GRANT TO ENABLE THEM TO REGISTER OR TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING DEREGISTERED FROM THEIR CLASSES. THE WP ALUMNI ASSOCIATION'S LECTURESHIP PROVIDES UP TO $25,000 TO FUND PROGRAMS TO ENRICH THE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS, FACULTY AND ALUMNI. ($17,812). IN FY20, A SERIES OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND EVENTS FOR STUDENTS, ALUMNI, FACULTY, AND MEMBERS OF OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOOLS (PDS) NETWORK WITHIN THE THEME DIVERSITY AND EQUITY IN TEACHING AND LEARNING WAS PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 400 PARTICIPANTS. (HALTED IN MARCH 2020 WHEN PANDEMIC HIT AND IN-PERSON EVENTS WERE NOT HELD). OTHER PROGRAMS FUNDED BY AA IN FY20 WERE: BRAIN INJURY, PEER MENTORS AND SUMMER LAMP INTERNS ($10,290).
