The mission of ELTC is to produce American stage classics and newly written scripts based on American history and literature that entertain, enlighten, and educate. The company envisions itself as a premiere presenter of our theatrical and cultural legacy. Our productions bring the past to the present, often highlighting political and social issues throughout American history. When patrons experience our productions, they witness ELTC's unique contribution to the American Heritage and to the world of theater.

Production Season in Cape May, NJ involved 2 live performances with audience, of SHERLOCK HOLMES ADVENTURE OF THE BLUE CARBUNCLE, and 24 performances of the fully-staged and filmed (with 3 cameras and edited), with no audience, Equity production of NOTHING MATTERS. Other virtual events, aside from NOTHING MATTERS, included 30 days for patrons to view YULETIDE TALES (storytelling with music filmed on stage in costumes) and NOT ABOVE A WHISPER (a reading filmed onstage with the actors in costumes); 4 days to view HISTORIC SPOUT OFFS (reading via Zoom) and THE WOODHULL PROJECT (a one-person play reimagined for Zoom filming.) The 2 live performances of SHERLOCK HOLMES were seen by 75, which is about half of our usual audience. Patrons were cancelling due to growing concerns about Covid. The 21 virtual events had 3,391 "views" which could translate into an audience of 6,782. 19 different actors here hired and 1 stage manager.
MURDER MYSTERY WEEKENDS: live, in-person, at 2 B&Bs during the off-season; 4 weekends with 50 participants and 1 performer hired. TALES IN THE BACKYARD: storytelling outside in the backyard of a private home; 20 different performances, seen by 341 people, and 10 different performers were hired. POE BY CANDLELIGHT: outside at West Cape May Borough Hall; actors read favorite Poe stories; 1 performance only and it was sold-out with 75 people, and 4 performers hired. GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST TROLLEY RIDES: produced with Cape May MAC in which ELTC provides the storyteller on MAC trolleys in November and December; 29 "rides" seen by 698 people (includes 58, ages 12 and under), and 1 performer hired. One touring production, SOMEONE MUST WASH THE DISHES was seen, live at the Ocean Grove Historical Society in Ocean County, and 5 libraries in Ocean, Monmouth, Bergan, and Union Counties; seen by 450 people total, and 1 actor hired. Other tours had to be cancelled due to Covid.
A 7-day in-school residency at West Cape May Elementary School, involving 20 students in AESOP'S FABLES, with 2 performances: a matinee for the school and one in the evening, admission-free for the community, seen 175 total, with 1 director hired and an assistant. Funding for this is through the NJ Theatre Alliance. 14th Annual Student Summer Workshop: PANDEMIC BALLET, rehearsed for 4 hours and performed outside, with students ages 11-16, seen by a capacity audience of 35 socially-distanced; 1 director hired and 2 assistants. (Usually this workshop is inside for 8 days @ 3 hours per day, not including performance, and usually 12 students are involved, with an audience over 100.)
