Organizations Filed Purposes:
WOS IS A DISTINCTIVE ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM WHOSE MISSSION IS TO INSPIRE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO IMROVE THEIR WRITING SKILLS BY TAPPING INTO THEIR PASSION FOR SPORTS. THE FOCUS IS PRIMARILY ON DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS.
WRITE ON SPORTS ("WOS") HELD TEN CAMPS in 2019 INCLUDING: TWO CAMPS IN NEWARK FOR NEWARK STUDENTS AT SAINT BENEDICT'S PREP AND PRUDENTIAL CENTER; TWO CAMPS AT MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY FOR STUDENTS FROM THE ORANGES AND HAWTHORNE/CLIFTON. ONE NEW AFFILIIATE PROGRAM WAS HELD AT MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY FOR STUDENTS AT ASBURY PARK. ANOTHER CAMP CONTINUES AT MONTMOUTH - FROM WEST LONG BRANCH. ONE AFFILIATE PROGRAM WAS ALSO HELD AT ROSELLE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL. THREE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS WERE HELD IN OTHER AREAS OUTSIDE NEW JERSEY, INCLUDING GOSHEN COLLEGE IN INDIANA AND PROVIDENCE COLLEGE AND BRYANT UNIVERSITY IN RHODE ISLAND. TWO AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS WERE HELD IN 2019, INCLUDING ONE IN WEST ORANGE FOR SIXTH GRADERS AND ONE IN NEWARK AT THE DISCOVERY CHARTER SCHOOL FOR 5TH THROUGH 7TH GRADERS. IN FOURTEEN YEARS, WOS HAS HELD EIGHTY-ONE TWO-WEEK CAMPS AND 15 AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS. SINCE 2006, WOS HAS HELD PROGRAMS FOR MORE THAN 1,700 STUDENTS.
