To provide high-quality cultural programming that brings people together and transforms the world around up by inspiring, educating and promoting the arts and art appreciation for our diverse community.
West Windsor Arts Council (WWAC) draws audiences of up to 300 from the greater Mercer county area per event for its exhibitions focusing on relevant, thematic topics such as Art & Healing, free community events, film presentations, and live performances. WWAC has over 430 members, over 40 artist instructors, and up to 200 exhibiting artists and performers. Film, music, and dance performances in the "Tin Ceiling presents..." program focus on diverse perspectives. Free community events include the "Autumn Arts Afternoon" family arts festival. Partnerships with groups such as the Minority Concerns Committee of Mercer County, Rise Community Services, Eden Autism and more extend reach to underserved communities.
Instruction in a variety of disciplines including visual arts, digital arts, crafts, theater and voice draw learners of all ages and backgrounds, from youth to adult. An average of 10 students per class, of which 25 - 70 are held each season of the year, now with a significant number conducted online. A youth program called the Certificate in Fine Arts (CiFA) recognizes the achievements and commitment to arts learning by youth students. A scholarship program ensures access to arts programming at WWAC for low-income families and individuals in the greater Mercer County area.
Each summer and during school breaks, WWAC offers as many as 25 arts camps for nearly 400 children in a variety of disciplines offering opportunities to learn, grow, and explore as they make friends and memories. Now with a pivot to online, the program has been developed to actively engage campers and provide continued learning and socialization throughout the summer with flexible schedules. As part of the camp program, a teen development initiative attracts up to 20 per year for training and experience in education, leadership, and administrative skills.
