THE AGENCY'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO CONDUCT ADVOCACY TRAINING-EDUCATION. PROVIDES AND DELIVERS INNOVATIVE NEW SERVICE MODELS AS PART OF OUR MISSION TO IMPROVE SERVICES AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITIES BY ADVANCING RECOVERY AND REHABILITATION RIGHTS.
NYAPRS IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING SERVICES, PUBLIC POLICIES AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE AND TRAUMA-RELATED CHALLENGES, BY PROMOTING HEALTH, WELLNESS AND RECOVERY, WITH FULL COMMUNITY INCLUSION, SO THAT ALL MAY ACHIEVE MAXIMUM POTENTIAL AND PARTICIPATE, AS DESIRED, IN COMMUNITIES OF CHOICE.
PEER SERVICES NYAPRS PROVIDES PEER SERVICES DIRECTLY TO INDIVIDUALS IN TARGETED STATE PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITALS AND THROUGH DIRECT CONTRACTS WITH MANAGED CARE COMPANIES IN NEW YORK STATE. THE NYAPRS PEER BRIDGER PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO MATCH A PEER BRIDGER, WHO IS SUCCESSFULLY MANAGING HIS OR HER OWN RECOVERY AND HAS COMPLETED THE REQUISITE PEER BRIDGER TRAINING PROGRAM, WITH PEERS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HIGH NEEDS/HIGH COST AND WHO ARE CURRENTLY RECEIVING SERVICES IN IDENTIFIED INPATIENT FACILITIES. THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE PROGRAM IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUPPORTIVE AND TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PEER AND THE PEER BRIDGER.
SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION THROUGH ITS SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION PROJECTS, NYAPRS AIMS TO ENGAGE STATES, SYSTEMS, ORGANIZATIONS, MANAGERS, AND DIRECT PRACTITIONERS IN UNDERSTANDING AND VALUING THE PRINCIPLES OF RECOVERY ORIENTED SERVICES, REHABILITATION, AND RIGHTS AND LEARN HOW TO INTEGRATE THOSE PRINCIPLES INTO DAY TO DAY PRACTICE. TRAINERS STRIVE TO CHALLENGE TRADITIONAL MIND SET, STRENGTHEN SKILLS, AND BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR RECOVERY TRHOUGH THE PARTNERING OF PRACTITIONERS AND PEOPLE IN RECOVERY.
EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ANNUALLY, NYAPRS HOSTS MULTIPLE EVENTS TO EDUCATE AND INFORM EVENT ATTENDEES OF BEST PRACTICES, NEW TRENDS, SYSTEMS CHANGES, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND OTHER TOPICS OF IMPORTANCE TO THE TARGET AUDIENCES. NYAPRS BRINGS MANY RESPECTED SPEAKERS AND PRESENTERS TO ENGAGE THE EVENT ATTENDEES ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS. NYAPRS PRIMARY ANNUAL EVENTS INCLUDE: THE NYAPRS EXECUTIVE SEMINAR EVENT TARGETED AT PROVIDERS (SPRING), THE NYAPRS ANNUAL CONFERENCE EVENT TARGETED AT BOTH CURRENT/FORMER RECIPIENTS OF SERVICES AND ALSO PROVIDERS, AND A NYAPRS PROS EVENT TARGETED AT LICENSED PROS PROGRAM PROVIDERS.
