Ferre Institute, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness using an inclusive and community-based approach. It was founded in 1974 to offer training in infertility, adoption and medical genetics. The programs of Ferre Institute, Inc. provide evidence-based information and education regarding inherited risk (genetics), fertility and infertility, environmental exposures, family history and aim to integrate advances in these areas into personal health management. Information is provided to the public through community lectures, educational resources and several educational websites. Many of the websites invite the public to email questions to program staff for additional information, referral and guidance. The Genetic Counseling Program provides individual risk assessment, education, and decision making regarding genetic testing and genetic test result explanation in cooperation with referring physicians. Infertility Education Program - This program provides a variety of educational resources to the public and professionals. Many of the educational resources are available on WWW.Infertilityeducation.org.
Other program services - The Pregnancy Risk Network is a statewide telephone hotline for consumers and medical professionals when concerns related to a pregnancy exposure to medications, occupational exposure, environmental exposures and maternal health issues. In the last 12 months there were over 1000 exposures and 725 callers to the hotline to review exposures and possible pregnancy risks.
Genetics Counseling Program - This program provides a community based approach that aims to make genetic risk assessment and genetic counseling to underserved communities.
