SAINT DOMINIC'S IS A LEADER IN COMMUNITY BASED AND RESIDENTIAL SERVICES WITH THE GOAL OF HELPING

THE AGENCY OPERATES RESIDENTIAL HOMES AND APARTMENTS IN THE BRONX, ROCKLAND AND ORANGE COUNTIES OF NEW YORK AND A DAY HABILITATION PROGRAM IN ROCKLAND COUNTY, NEW YORK. THESE HOMES ARE FUNDED AND CERTIFIED BY THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.

SAINT DOMINIC'S COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES DEPARTMENT PROVIDES HOME-BASED SERVICES TO PREVENT SEPARATION OF FAMILIES, INCREASE FAMILY STABILITY AND REDUCE THE STRESSORS THAT FAMILIES FACE. THE COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES DEPARTMENT CONSISTS OF SEVEN COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS IN THE BRONX AND ROCKLAND COUNTY. A MAJORITY OF THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES COME FROM THE MOST IMPOVERISHED NEIGHBORHOODS AND THE CHILDREN ARE AT RISK OF BEING ABUSED, ABANDONED, NEGLECTED OR INSTITUTIONALIZED. MOREOVER, SOME OF THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS HAVE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND/OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THE AGENCY ALSO PROVIDES A FOSTER CARE PROGRAM UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE NEW YORK CITY ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN'S SERVICES. THE GOAL IS TO ACHIEVE PERMANENCY FOR CHILDREN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED AND NEGLECTED AS WELL AS THOSE WHO HAVE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, DEVELOPMENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS.

THE AGENCY OPERATES AN 853 SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN IN GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL WHO HAVE SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES. THE AGENCY OPERATES A PRESCHOOL PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES FOR CHILDREN 3-5 YEARS OLD.
