Organizations Filed Purposes: DREAMYARD PROGRAMS DEVELOP ARTISTIC VOICE, NURTURE YOUNG PEOPLES' DESIRE TO MAKE CHANGE AND CULTIVATE THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO REACH POSITIVE GOALS. BY COMMITTING TO SUSTAINED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES ALONG AN EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY, WE SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE AS THEY WORK TOWARD HIGHER LEARNING, MEANINGFUL CAREERS, AND SOCIAL ACTION. WE BELIEVE THAT YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE BRONX NEED A CONTINUOUS SET OF SUPPORTS TO HELP THEM TOWARDS POSITIVE OUTCOMES. WE HAVE EVERY EXPECTATION THAT THROUGH OFFERING SUSTAINED AND MEANINGFUL SUPPORTS OUR YOUTH WILL DEVELOP THE TOOLS TO BECOME CREATIVE AND ENGAGED CITIZENS, LIFE-LONG LEARNERS AND THE LEADERS AND INNOVATORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY.

TO COLLABORATE WITH BRONX YOUTH, FAMILIES AND SCHOOLS TO BUILD EQUITY AND OPPORTUNITY THROUGH ARTS.

IN SCHOOL PROGRAMS: COMBINES NY STATE-STANDARDS-BASED ARTS INSTRUCTION WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE PEDAGOGY PRINCIPLES TO INSPIRE STUDENTS TO DEVELOP CHARACTER, SCHOLARSHIP, AND AN ARTISTIC VOICE TO CREATE CHANGE. OUR YEAR-LONG PROGRAM MODEL OFFERS BOTH IN-SCHOOL AND AFTER-SCHOOL ARTS RESIDENCIES; ONE AND TWO 90-MINUTE SESSIONS PER WEEK RESPECTIVELY PLUS WEEKLY COLLABORATIVE PLANNING AND REFLECTION TIME. THE FOLLOWING ART PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE: DANCE, MAKER, MUSIC, POETRY, THEATER, AND VISUAL ART PLUS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITAL ARTS. EACH DREAMYARD TEACHING ARTIST RECEIVES OVER 50 HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EACH YEAR. EVERY TEACHING ARTIST WORKS IN CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH OUR DEPARTMENT HEADS IN A COACHING MODEL, CREATING EXCELLENT PROJECT ARCS AND LESSONS PLANS, AND TAKING PART IN A LAYERED COACHING MODEL IN WHICH EVERY ARTIST WORKS ON A PEDAGOGICAL SKILL WITH THE OUTSIDE EYE AND SUPPORT OF THEIR COACH. ALL THIS WORK IS GUIDED BY OUR FRAMEWORK, A CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND REFLECTION TOOL BASED ON OUR CORE VALUES OF EMPOWER, CREATE, AND CONNECT.

ART CENTER: AS THE ONLY ARTS AND DIGITALLY-INTEGRATED FACILITY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, THE DREAMYARD ART CENTER HAS BECOME AN IMPORTANT CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL SPACE IN THE SOUTH BRONX - ADDRESSING A REAL NEED FOR HIGH-QUALITY PROGRAMMING FOR YOUTH IN AN OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME SETTING.DREAMYARD ART CENTER PROGRAMS RUN DURING AFTER SCHOOL HOURS (4 PM-6 PM), SATURDAYS (10 AM-3 PM), AND THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER (10 AM-4 PM) FOR A TOTAL OF 1500 HOURS OF PROGRAMMING EACH YEAR. OVER 300 STUDENTS TAKE PART IN A VARIETY OF ARTS CLASSES SUCH AS FASHION, VISUAL ART, THEATER, DIGITAL LEARNING, MUSIC AND AUDIO RECORDING, POETRY, ARTS AND SOCIAL ACTIVISM, AND DANCE. FURTHERMORE, ALL OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO LEADERSHIPS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND ACADEMIC SUPPORTS SUCH AS COLLEGE ADVISORY, COMMUNITY BUILDING, INTERNSHIPS, AND SOCIAL WORK SERVICES.

CREATIVE CAREER PATHWAY PROGRAMS: INTRODUCE AND CONNECT YOUNG PEOPLE TO CAREERS IN THE CREATIVE SECTOR THAT DIRECTLY CORRELATE TO THE WORK THEY ARE DOING IN THEIR DREAMYARD CLASSES. BY PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THE WEALTH OF OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO THEM AND REVEALING A CLEAR PATHWAY TO A CAREER ROOTED IN THEIR ARTISTRY THROUGH INTEREST-DRIVEN, WORK-BASED LEARNING PROGRAMS, WE ARE BUILDING A COLLABORATIVE NETWORK OF YOUTH, EDUCATORS, AND EMPLOYERS TO CREATE SYSTEMIC AND SUSTAINABLE CHANGE IN THE BRONX. OUR CREATIVE CAREER PATHWAYS PROGRAM INTRODUCES STUDENTS TO CAREERS WITHIN THEIR DESIRED ART FORM THROUGH AFTER-SCHOOL SKILL BUILDING CLASSES FROM OCT-MAY. STUDENTS THEN HAVE THE OPTION OF DEEPENING THEIR STUDY THROUGH PAID-INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCES FOR SIX-EIGHT WEEKS OVER THE SUMMER WITH A PARTNERING BUSINESS OR BRONX ORGANIZATION.
