Organizations Filed Purposes:
AdmissionSquad, The Organization, was organized in the State of New York on January 21, 2016. The Organization is a nonprofit organization on a mission to get talented middle schoolers from underrepresented backgrounds into the top 10% of New York City public high schools through test prep, application advisement and mentorship from graduates of top schools and highly sought after career paths. Founded and directed by Tai Abrams, a graduate of Bronx Science and Duke University, the Organization aims to close the information gap for parents andclose the content readiness gap for students. The Organization believes that early awareness and preparation can dramatically change the admissions outcome for promising students in the high school application process. With this in mind, the Organization designed the following two programs:Early Start Program the program aims to prepare 6th and 7th graders for ELA and Mathematics State exams and introduces them to topics assessed on the Specialize
AdmissionSquad has maintained an 80% success rate of placing talented, underserved students into New York Citys most highly sought after high schools. Out of 10 black students who placed into Stuyvesant High School, two of those students came from AdmissionSquad. Our students typically attend the following high schools: Stuyvesant High School, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Technical High School, Bard Early College High School, Leon M Goldstein, Beacon High School and Midwoods screened high school programs. Our students are well prepared for the rigor of attending a top NYC high school. AdmissionSquad hosted high school admissions workshops both in-person and virtual for almost 1,000 families to help close the information gap for families in school districts that have a low population of students matriculating into selective NYC high schools. These workshops helped to spread awareness to high-need areas and helped to identify students with the academic potential to place into an elite high school.
