DOT:Written by Tony Award-nominee Colman Domingo (Passing Strange, The Scottsboro Boys, Fear the Walking Dead)and directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon, DOT tackles the challenges of an aging matriarch in a way The New York Times called both uproariously funny and deeply moving. Presented in partnership with Kenny Leon's True ColorsTheatre in Atlanta, DOT starred Emmy Award-winner Denise Burse (Black Mirror, House of Payne) and served as the foundation for the cultivation of a national pipeline between two Black-led regional theaters to develop a cost-savings, high production quality, and shared audience-centric model. A WALK INTO SLAVERY, written by Hollis King and Brooklyn artist Carl Hancock Rux and directed by Etwaroo, was presented in the round on a custom built art installment in The Billie's Community Studio Space, and incorporated original and historic photography and drawings, as well as recorded and live music by Brooklyn vocalist Marcelle Lashley-Davies. Our 12-show limited run received a tremendous reception from both audiences and critics.
