Organizations Filed Purposes:
Furtherance of the legal profession through sponsorship of Continuing Legal Education programs, networking opportunities and a Lawyer Referral Service.
The Brooklyn Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service continued its commitment to Brooklyn community outreach by sponsoring the Brooklyn Bar Association Foundation Law Committees free legal informational presentations. The BBA LRS also did Facebook feeds of these presentations and participated in the annual Brooklyn Pride Festival providing information about legal services available in the community. The BBA LRS maintained a speakers bureau when requests are made from various organizations for informational legal lectures. During the normal course of the daily BBA LRS business thousands of callers are referred to available pro bono and other agencies that provide legal services throughout NYC.
The Brooklyn Bar Association provided a variety of social/networking events with colleagues and members of the judiciary. The committees and sections provided access to leadership opportunities and career growth. The Association also continued to arbitrate fee disputes, reviewed referred grievances and produced content for our quarterly publication. The Association has around 1,200 members.
The Brooklyn Bar Association provided 21 live continuing legal education courses to the legal community and 49 different courses were sold on CD or DVD and 12 via online streaming.
