Organizations Filed Purposes: The Brooklyn Charter School is committed to providing a nurturing and supportive community where all students feel secure, recognize their own potential, respect others regardless of race, religion or culture, and are instilled with the desire to learn and achieve. It is our aim to provide a rigorous academic program supported by the Arts & Technology that cultivates the whole child. Through achievement and creativity, and in partnership with our families, students will develop the necessary confidence, intellectual capacity and leadership skills to prepare them for an evolving global society.

The mission of the Brooklyn Charter School is to engage in a process of teaching and learning that inspires excellence in academic performance, encourages lifelong learning, builds self-respect and respect for others, and develops responsible leaders and citizenry.

The Brooklyn Charter School (BCS) is a K-5 elementary school that provides a range of educational services. BCS is the first charter school of Bedford Stuyvesant and the first charter approved by the New York City Department of Education. BCS believes that every child has the ability to learn and therefore deserves the best opportunities to excel in school and in life. We bring this vision to reality through a core academic curriculum in Humanities, Math and Science. We further incorporate the use of the latest learning technologies and programs as an integral instructional tool. Brooklyn Charter School offers daily coding classes where our students are empowered to build grit, develop a growth mind-set and become independent problem-solvers as early as Kindergarten. BCS also prides itself in its creative arts programming. A rigorous academic calendar, a deliberate approach to social and emotional well-being, a strong & stable leadership team along with highly qualified and dedicated teachers provides the platform for success in making BCS an academically competitive institution. The school completed the 2019-20 fiscal year with an average enrollment of approximately 220 students.
