Previously Titled The Other is now titled The Day I was Born.
A Manuy Voices Film, The Rain will Follow received the Stellar Award in Documentary from the Black Maria Film Festrival. The Film Screened in a free community event, as part of the festival, at the James Stewart Film Theatre at Princeton University. Subsequent film screenings have been canceled due to Covid-19. The film is centered on an ageddescendant of Norwegian homesteaders who farmed North Dakota prairie land for decades, even as oil developers continued to expand their fracking operations.
The project previously titled The Other is now titled The Day I was Born. It has expanded into a collaberative photographic and oral history book about the lives of Black residents of a small Arkansas town today known as the site of the Earle Race Riot of l970. Final photography and interviews have been completed. Publication of the book is slated for Decemberrt 2020.
During the fiscal year, Many Voices donated hundreds of copies of the book, Stepping Through The Ashes, about the aftermath of 9/11, to educational institutions in New York City: 200 hundred copies toi the photography Program at MS51 in Brooklyn, 50 copies to the Photography Program at Abraham Linmcoln HS in Brooklytn, 120 copies to the Humanities 1V Charter HS in Queens, and 80 copies to ICP at THE POINT in the Bronx. Additionally, 60 copies of exploding into Life, a breast cancer diary of a young journalist, were donated to ICPs Community Fellkows and to students at ICP in Manhattan.
