NYCC LEADS KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAININGS AND A RAPID RESPONSE PROGRAM TO PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES AGAINST DEPORTATIONS, POLICE BRUTALITY AND EVICTIONS.WE FIGHT ECONOMIC POWER AT ITS CORE. NYCC AND ITS MEMBERS LEAD THE FIGHT AGAINST ECONOMIC OPPRESSION BY BUILDING CAMPAIGNS FROM THE GROUND UP THAT CHALLENGE CAPITAL AND OPPRESSIVE ECONOMIC SYSTEMS.WE BUILD POWER AND TRANSFORM OUR COMMUNITIES. NYCC ORGANIZES IN LOW-INCOME AND MIDDLE INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS TO BUILD A STRONG PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT THAT CAN BRING TANGIBLE CHANGE TO OUR COMMUNITIES. WORKER'S RIGHTS: NYCC ADDRESSES THE CONCERNS OF LOW WAGE WORKERS BY EDUCATING THEM ABOUT THEIR LEGAL RIGHTS, FACILITATING HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAININGS, DEVELOPING LEADERS WHO CAN ADVOCATE ON THEIR OWN BEHALF, AND PROVIDING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE PROGRAMS AND JOB TRAINING. NYCC ALSO SURVEYS WORKERS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES ON THE JOB AND THEN ISSUES REPORTS TO INFORM POLICYMAKERS ABOUT THE NEEDS OF THE WORKERS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. WORKERS JOIN TOGETHER THROUGH NYCC TO PROTECT THEIR RIGHTS AND IMPROVE WORKING CONDITIONS.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING: NYCC HAS WORKED TO ADDRESS THE FORECLOSURE CRISIS, AND TO ADVOCATE FOR MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND TENANT RIGHTS. THROUGH KNOW YOUR RIGHTS CLINICS, ORGANIZING TENANT UNIONS, AND ORGANIZING TO ENSURE HOUSING POLICY MEETS THE NEEDS OF WORKING CLASS TENANTS AND UNHOUSED PEOPLE, NYCC WORKS TO ENSURE THAT EVERY NEW YORKER IS ABLE TO ACCESS A SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOME.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH - OUR ORGANIZING IS PREMISED ON TWO SIMPLE TRUTHS: THAT WHEN WE KNOCK ON DOORS AND MEET PEOPLE, THE FABRIC OF THE COMMUNITY IS TIGHTENED; AND THAT WHEN PEOPLE ARE AGITATED NOT FROM ONE SIDE TO ANOTHER, BUT FROM THE BOTTOM UP, OUR MOVEMENT IS UNIFIED.
