Organizations Filed Purposes: The Peggy Lillis Foundation is building a nationwide colostridium difficle awareness movement by educating the public, empowering advocates, and shaping policy.

Created awareness and supported C. Diff. patients and family members.

2019 National C. diff Advocacy Summit and Lobby Day. PLF welcomed more than 70 participants, including 25 members of PLF?s Advocates Council for a day of learning, discussion, and networking. Another 100 people watched the Summit sessions via live stream. Our Summit is the leading national event bringing together advocates, researchers, industry leaders, and healthcare workers to fight C. diff; PLF held our second annual C. diff Lobby Day. This year, Advocates visited more than 50 legislators from 18 states. Advocates asked for increased funding for the critical federal agencies, like the CDC, FDA and USDA, that play a significant role in combating infectious diseases. Advocates also asked legislators to protect the Prevention & Public Health Fund which provides $1 billion a year for public health initiatives, including a significant portion of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention as well as to support a new initiative (Data: Elemental to Health) Both our advocates and legislative staff were deeply troubled that many states are doing surveillance with handwritten reports either mailed or faxed to their health departments.

See C. diff Public Education Campaign. In recognition of C. diff Awareness Month, this past November Peggy Lillis Foundation (PLF) launched our new public education campaign, (See C. diff.) The campaign was based from Cdiff.org and included a range of educational media. We are delighted to report that the campaign did incredibly well reaching hundreds of thousands of people across our website and social media. Driven mostly by grassroots social media outreach as well as organizational partnerships and some modest paid advertising, (See C. diff) reached over 80,000 individual people! The campaign generated over 267,000 impressions. Given that we spent very little money promoting it, it?s a pretty incredible number. We only have a total of our 4,500 active followers on our website and social media accounts; so, we?ve reached 15 times our typical audience.
