Women in Theatre Festival IV: The Women in Theatre Festival 2019 was a curated 4 week Festival of new plays and innovative performances by diverse women artists. The WIT Festival seeks to broaden the opportunities for women in the entertainment industry by producing new work by women with more than 50% female representation of all artists involved. Our line-up was highlighted by two commissioned and fully produced world premieres: "The Three Musketeers, 1941" by Megan Monahan-Rivas and "Sleeping Beauty" by Amina Henry. These new plays were then complimented with a series of performance slots dedicated to innovative theatre work, solo shows, and readings of developing works. Trump Lear: "Trump Lear" is a one person show in which actor and impersonator David Carl is being held without bail for performing his Trump-inspired version of Shakespeare's King Lear. Carl is forced to perform his King Lear for an unseen audience of one, as the President restlessly watches remotely from a live and public feed. The stakes are high; if Trump likes Carl and his show, Carl lives; if not, Carl dies. But how can Carl get through a show where he has created a Lear based on Trump himself without offending his audience? The show was performed throughout the year at suh NYC venues as Under St. Mrks and 59E59 Theaters. See Sch O Part III Line 1 for the Continuation
Women in Theatre Festival V: This expense is a downpayment on space rental for the Women in Theatre Festival (Summer 2020). In order to secure the space, a downpayment was needed that fell within Fiscal Year 2019.
