Organizations Filed Purposes:
SCHOOL EMPOWERMENT NETWORK (SEN) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT LEVERAGES THE POWER OF STRONG SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND DESIGN TO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE OPTIONS AND OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS. WE DO THIS BY HELPING SCHOOL DISTRICTS DEVELOP HOME-GROWN AND SELF-SUSTAINING LEADERSHIP PIPELINES TO RAPIDLY IMPROVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, AS WELL AS BY RECRUITING, TRAINING, AND SUPPORTING SCHOOL ENTREPRENEURS TO OPEN NEW, HIGH-PERFORMING SCHOOLS.
DETROIT CHILDREN'S FUND TEAMS FELLOWS PROGRAM. SCHOOL EMPOWERMENT NETWORK (SEN) PROVIDED ON-SITE COACHING AND HELD MONTHLY COHORT MEETINGS FOR EXISTING LEADERSHIP TEAMS AT DETROIT ACHIEVEMENT ACADEMY AND DETROIT PREP ON THE CUSP OF STRONG PERFORMANCE, TO HELP THEM MOVE FROM "GOOD TO GREAT." A SEN INSTRUCTIONAL COACH AND A SEN CULTURE COACH WORKED WITH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAMS TO ESTABLISH COHERENT INSTRUCTIONAL AND CULTURAL IMPLEMENTATION PLANS, AND GUIDED THE DEVELOPMENT OF CORRESPONDING ACTION TO CONSISTENTLY MOVE THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY TOWARDS IMPROVEMENT GOALS.
SEN PARTNERS WITH SOUTHBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS (SPS) TO FACILITATE THE REDESIGN OF THE DISTRICT'S SECONDARY SCHOOLS. THE GOAL OF THIS PARTNERSHIP IS TO PROVIDE A RIGOROUS AND COHERENT 6-12 EXPERIENCE FOR SPS STUDENTS THAT, OVER TIME, CULMINATES IN INCREASED STUDENT ATTENDANCE, ENROLLMENT, ENGAGEMENT, AND OUTCOMES. GIVEN CURRENT SCHOOL PERFORMANCE (AS ASSESSED THROUGH QUANTITATIVE DATA AND SCHOOL QUALITY REVIEWS PERFORMED IN FALL 2018) AND THE REDESIGN GOALS ESTABLISHED BY SPS, SEN LEADS THREE PRIMARY PROGRAM COMPONENTS FROM JANUARY 2019-DECEMBER 2020: RECURRING SCHOOL QUALITY REVIEWS THAT SERVE SIMULTANEOUSLY AS AN ON-GOING COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS' ASSESSMENT, A BASIS FOR ACTION PLANNING, AND A STRUCTURE FOR THE EVALUATION OF PROGRESS. LEADERSHIP TEAM COACHING TO DEVELOP A SET OF CORE LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND STRUCTURES THAT DRIVE CURRENT INSTRUCTIONAL AND SCHOOL CULTURE IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS AND TO SUPPORT THE EFFECTIVE PLANNING, LAUNCH, AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A SCHOOL DESIGN PROCESS. SCHOOL DESIGN WORKSHOPS TO TAKE SPS DESIGN TEAMS THROUGH A MULTI-STAGE AND COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL DESIGN PROCESS.
NATCHITOCHES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD (NPSB) SCHOOL REDESIGN. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PARISH OF NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA, SEN LED THE REDESIGN AND SCHOOL RESET OF M.R. WEAVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND WORKING WITH THE PARISH TEAM ON TURNAROUND PLANS FOR ADDITIONAL SCHOOLS. SEN IS WORKING TO DEVELOP INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAMS, COACH AND SUPPORT SCHOOL LEADERS, AND IMPLEMENT A CAREER LADDER ENABLING PARISH TEACHERS TO BECOME TEACHER LEADERS AND MODEL TEACHERS. DURING SY 2017-18 SEN'S RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION TEAM IDENTIFIED TEN POTENTIAL MODEL AND LEADER TEACHER CANDIDATES TO PARTICIPATE IN SEN'S DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER LADDER PROCESS. IN COLLABORATION WITH NPSB LEADERSHIP, SEN COACHES IDENTIFIED INSTRUCTIONAL PRIORITIES FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR AND CREATED A YEAR-LONG PLAN FOR THEIR IMPLEMENTATION IN SUPPORT OF THE SCHOOL'S REDESIGN. SEN COACHES ALSO ESTABLISHED AN EXEMPLAR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR SCHOOL LEADERS TO IMPLEMENT ROBUST AUGUST TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ALIGNED TO IMPLEMENTATION OF ESTABLISHED INSTRUCTIONAL PRIORITIES. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM SEN SUPPORTED THE CREATION OF EFFECTIVE STRUCTURES AND THE EMPOWERING OF HOME-GROWN TALENT TO ACHIEVE STRONGER RESULTS AT AN ACCELERATED PACE. AT M.R. WEAVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS SCORING MASTERY OR ABOVE INCREASED BY 33%.
