THE SEASON RAN FROM SEPTEMBER 27, 2018 TO JUNE 3, 2019 WITH 163 PERFORMANCES OF FOUR THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS. OKLAHOMA! (SEPT 27 NOV 11, 51 PERFORMANCES): DIRECTOR DANIEL FISH'S REIMAGINED VERSION OF RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN'S MUSICAL JUXTAPOSED THE SURFACE SUNNY ROMANCE OF A FARM GIRL AND A VAIN COWBOY AGAINST THE DARKER STORY OF A COMMUNITY'S SENSE OF "JUSTICE" AGAINST A REVILED OUTSIDER. THE PRODUCTION MOVED TO BROADWAY, WHERE IT WON THE TONY AWARD FOR BEST REVIVAL OF A MUSICAL. THE JUNGLE (DEC 4- JAN 27, 61 PERFORMANCES): GOOD CHANCE THEATRE'S MOVING PRODUCTION OF LIFE IN A CAMP IN CALAIS, FRANCE WHERE THOUSANDS OF REFUGEES ESCAPED FROM DROUGHT, WAR, AND STRIFE-TORN COUNTRIES OF AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST ON THEIR WAY TO BRITAIN. CREATED BY JOE ROBERTSON AND JOE MURPHY, DIRECTED BY STEPHEN DALDRY AND JUSTIN MARTIN AND PERFORMED WITH A COMPANY OF 22 PERFORMERS, INCLUDING FORMER REFUGEES, SOME OF WHOM LIVED IN THE CALAIS JUNGLE. THE B-SIDE: "NEGRO FOLKLORE FROM TEXAS STATE PRISONS" (MARCH 1-31, 25 PERFORMANCES): A RECORD ALBUM INTERPRETATION, BASED ON A 1965 LP THAT FEATURES WORK SONGS, BLUES, AND SPIRITUALS RECORDED LIVE BY INMATES IN TEXAS' SEGREGATED STATE PRISON FARMS. DIRECTED BY KATE VALK AND CREATED BY ERIC BERRYMAN, WHO PLAYED THE ALBUM AND TRANSMITTED THE MATERIAL VIA AN IN-EAR RECEIVER, THE VOICES OF THE MEN ON THE RECORDING WERE CHANNELED THROUGH BERRYMAN AND TWO LIVE PERFORMERS. GRIEF IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS (APRIL 20-MAY 12, 20 PERFORMANCES): IRISH WRITER-DIRECTOR ENDA WALSH'S DEVASTATING EXPLORATION OF GRIEF AS A FATHER AND HIS TWO SONS TRY TO MAKE SENSE OF THE SUDDEN DEATH OF HIS WIFE AND THEIR MOTHER, FROM MAX PORTER'S NOVEL, FEATURING A TOUR-DE-FORCE PERFORMANCE BY ACTOR CILLIAN MURPHY AND ORIGINAL MUSIC BY TEHO TEARDO. IN ADDITION, NINE SPECIALLY-SELECTED ARTIST TEAMS DEVELOPED NEW OBJECT BASED THEATER PROJECTS IN A SEVEN MONTH DEVELOPMENTAL PUPPET LAB (NOVEMBER - MAY) AND SHOWCASED THEIR WORK IN A SIX DAY FESTIVAL IN JUNE. TICKETS FOR THE SEASON SOLD OUT AT 97% TO AUDIENCES OF MORE THAN 52,000 THEATER GOERS. IN ADDITION, ST. ANN'S EXPANDED ITS ROLE AS A PRESENTER OF CONTEMPORARY THEATER TO ONE OF PRESENTER/PRODUCER, CONTRIBUTING DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT TO THE ENHANCEMENT OF OKLAHOMA!, THE JUNGLE AND GRIEF IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS.
