Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Theater of the Emerging American Moment, Inc. (The TEAM), is a Brooklyn-based theatre ensemble whose mission is to collaboratively create new works about the experience of living in America today, and to generate dialogue about our nation's past, present, and future through national and international touring.
In FY20, the TEAM continued development on its newest project Reconstruction (Still Working but the Devil Might Be Inside) which features our largest writing team to date with 24 writers. In August 2019, we spent two weeks in Brooklyn with our full company of artists generating writing and research. Then, we spent one week at LUMBERYARD in Catskill, NY where we worked with our newly built set. In January 2020, we held two micro-residencies for small groups of artists to continue work on Reconstruction at the Hopkins Center for the Arts in Hanover, New Hampshire, and in Brooklyn. We then continued work, together as a full company, virtually in the Spring. We also expanded our Petri Projects Program and selected projects through an artist-led panel rooted in participatory budgeting. This led to the selection of 7 incredible projects, one of which we supported in FY20. A series of workshops were also held in self-producing and devising new theatre for emerging artists and teens in New York City.
