PERMANENT AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR WOMEN - AFFORDABLE, SAFE, PERMANENT HOMES FOR LOW-INCOME AND FORMERLY HOMELESS WOMEN, SURVIVORS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, AND THE ELDERLY. ENHANCED PROGRAMMING INCLUDES HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, TRAUMA INFORMED INITIATIVES AND FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT.
YOUNG WOMEN'S COLLEGE ACCESS AND LEADERSHIP COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE ACCESS AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR LOW-INCOME GIRLS ATTENDING UNDER RESOURCED HIGH SCHOOLS. PROGRAMMING INCLUDES ACADEMIC TUTORING, STANDARDIZED TEST PREPARATION, INDIVIDUALIZED COLLEGE INQUIRY AND ASSISTANCE WITH COLLEGE AND FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS. THE PROGRAM ALSO OFFERS PAID INTERNSHIPS, FINANCIAL LITERACY AND CAREER EXPLORATION. LEADERSHIP COMPONENTS EQUIP GIRLS WITH THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BECOME ADVOCATES FOR THEMSELVES AND CHANGE AGENTS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. 100% OF PARTICIPANTS ATTEND COMPETITIVE 4 YEAR COLLEGES, MANY WITH FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS.IMMIGRANT WOMEN'S SERVICES OFFERS FIRST-GENERATION IMMIGRANTS ENGLISH CLASSES, CITIZENSHIP CLASSES, WORKFORCE/EMPLOYABILITY PREPAREDNESS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES, AND FREE LEGAL CLINICS.SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMUNITY CENTER PROVIDES FREE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS INCLUDING WOMEN'S HEALTH AND WELLNESS, GIRLS COLLEGE ACCESS AND LEADERSHIP, FINANCIAL LITERACY AND TECHNOLOGY CLASSES, GENDER BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION, PROGRESSIVE ARTS/CULTURAL EVENTS AND CONFERENCES, IN A RAPIDLY GENTRIFYING BOROUGH, THE CENTER INTENTIONALLY SUPPORTS OTHER GRASSROOTS NONPROFITS TO FACILITATE THEIR ABILITY TO EXPAND THE SCOPE AND REACH OF THEIR SERVICES TO BROOKLYN'S MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS.
