Campaign to STOP GE Trees completed a white paper Biotechnology for Forest Health? The Test Case of the Genetically Engineered American Chestnut on 24 April 2019. We also produced an Executive Summary as a stand-alone piece. On 14 May BFW and the Campaign to STOP GE Trees Steering Committee presented a media webinar on risks and concerns of the GE American chestnut. In June and July we were published in The Ecologist, Earth Island Journal, Independent Science News, In These Times and Counterpunch. The Washington Post and NPR published a link to our white paper. On 3 May, the New York Times Magazine ran a major feature article romanticizing the GE American chestnut. We published a letter offering a counterpoint on 17 May. In 2019 we expanded our alliance to include Rural Coalition and Moms Across America and deepened our ties with World Rainforest Movement in Brazil and OLCA in Chile. We published a report in English, Spanish and Portuguese criticizing "Business for Nature" schemes called Trees to Solve the World's Problems? From Genetically Engineered Trees for the Bioeconomy to the Trillion Tree Proposal and Business for Nature. The report was republished by WRM, OLCA and REDD-Monitor.

Earth Radio: We produced 20 Earth Minutes and 24 Earth Watch interviews on Sojourner Truth show on Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles. Photography & Video: We posted 19 photo essays highlighting historical milestones; and 12 mini-videos including two shot at Mapuche land re-occupations in Chile. On May 20th we organized a webinar on the status of the popular uprising in Chile in the face of COVID-19 in collaboration with colleagues from the US and Chile. This webinar Organized Chile the popular uprising during the pandemic: Updates from activists on the front lines of the fight for rights and territory in the face of COVID-19 had simultaneous English/Spanish translation. Covid-19 Analysis page: Beginning on March 18th, we launched a COVID-19 analysis page called COVID-19: Underlying Causes, Human Rights Abuses and Ecological Destruction. It features under-reported or unreported news about the pandemic. The posts were so numerous that on April 3rd, we started a daily digest. Due to COVID-19, we had only 2 shows in our Buen Vivir! Gallery. In October 2019 we organized a 4 day conference which brought together activists working on forest protection, climate change and Indigenous Peoples' rights.

BFW launched a major report on cellulosic biofuels "Dead End Road: The false promise of cellulosic biofuels" as the latest addition to our series on biotechnology application to bioenergy. We are working with an international network on forests and biomass which is coordinated by Environmental Paper Network. We assisted with development of a strong position statement, and strategy for building effective resistance to large scale wood bioenergy globally. We prepared and delivered a sign on statement opposing the Biofutures Platform, an initiative that was started at the UN climate convention COP 22. IPCC reviews: We served as peer-reviewers for the IPCC report on pathways to 1.5 degrees, and the second report (not yet released) on climate and land use. Our input has focused especially on providing critique of the role of bioenergy and BECCS (bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration), as well as forest protection issues. Our work on IPCC reports has been largely coordinated by the Climate Land Ambition Rights Alliance (CLARA).
