Education to create healthy, environmentally sustainable, community friendly transportation options in the city of Buffalo
Our Recycle-A-Bicycle and Future Commuters programs empower students through development of hands-on problem-solving and mechanical skills and access to personal transportation. Each participant receives a donated bicycle and learns how to maintain it with the help of an instructor. Through groups rides, students learn road rules and safe riding practices, graduating with all the tools hey need to experience the fub and independence of travel on a bicycle they have built themselves.
Slow Roll Buffalo is a social group bicycle ride that meets every Monday night and has expanded into a network of community rides across WNY. As a free and inclusive way to bring people from all walks of life together and reconnect our community, this event continues to engage and empower neighborhoods through the simple joy of riding a bicycle
Complete Streets create healthy, vibrant communities by making our streets safer for those who walk, bike and play. In response to high demand and overwhelming positive feedback in our first year, we continued and expended our efforts, rolling out even more Complete Streets pop-ups in 2018! We worked with 7 schools adding 63 crosswalks and 4 bump-outs while also refreshing bicycle faciltiies along 5 corridors.
