Investigative Post's programming consisted largely of producing investigative stories published on our website and shared with our broadcast partners, including WGRZ, the NBC affiliate for Buffalo, and WBFO, the NPR outlet for Western New York.We produced numerous stories of note, including those on the City of Buffalo ticketing practices, which targeted and imposed hardships on minority motorists; misconduct by officials at the Western Regional Off Track Betting Corp.; a pediatric surgeon at Children's Hospital who had been sanctioned by the state Health Department for incompetency; and the City of Buffalo's mounting fiscal problems.
We also continued to stage our event series. Most noteworthy were events that featured two Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonists, Tom Toles and Adam Zyglis; and Christopher Klein, author of "When the Irish Invaded Canada: The Incredible True Story of the Civil War Veterans Who Fought for Ireland's Freedom."
Investigative Post was also honored for its reporting. Jim Heaney received the Nellie Bly Award for Investigative Reporting from the Museum of Political Corruption; Charlotte Keith received the Sarah Metzger Award for Human Rights awarded by Housing Opportunities Made Equal; and Daniela Porat won first place in the investigative reporting category for radio from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
