Organizations Filed Purposes: WOOD LIBRARY SERVES PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND STRIVES TO HELP PEOPLE GROW AND LEARN THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. ITS GOALS ARE TO (1) PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE AND (2) BE A COMFORTABLE AND SAFE DESTINATION WHERE PEOPLE CAN SATISFY THEIR CURIOSITY, STIMULATE THEIR IMAGINATIONS AND CONNECT TO THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY AND TO THE WORLD.

WOOD LIBRARY IS A FULL SERVICE PUBLIC LIBRARY. ITS MISSION IS TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE IN A COMFORTABLE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT WHERE PEOPLE CAN SATISFY THEIR CURIOSITY, STIMULATE THEIR IMAGINATIONS, AND CONNECT TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND TO THE WORLD. WOOD LIBRARY OFFERS TRADITIONAL LIBRARY COLLECTIONS INCLUDING BOOKS, MAGAZINES, DVDS, AUDIO-BOOKS IN MANY FORMATS (INCLUDING DOWNLOADABLE), VIDEOGAMES, MUSIC CDS, NEWSPAPERS, LARGE PRINT BOOKS, LOCAL HISTORY, AND TAX FORMS. IT PROVIDES HUNDREDS OF EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES EACH YEAR. THE LIBRARY USES THE LATEST IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND IS STAFFED BY FOUR PROFESSIONAL LIBRARIANS AND TWO DOZEN PART-TIME EMPLOYEES. IT ALSO OFFERS FAX AND COPY SERVICE, AND A NOTARY PUBLIC. WOOD LIBRARY IS A MEMBER OF THE PIONEER LIBRARY SYSTEM. THIS MEMBERSHIP GIVES LIBRARY PATRONS FREE ACCESS TO HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TITLES FROM 42 LIBRARIES IN ONTARIO, WAYNE, WYOMING AND LIVINGSTON

WOOD LIBRARY IS A FREE ASSOCIATION LIBRARY CHARTERED TO SERVE THE GREATER CANANDAIGUA AREA. AS A MEMBER OF THE FOUR COUNTY 42 MEMBER LIBRARY PIONEER LIBRARY SYSTEM IT OFFERS FREE SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OF ONTARIO, WAYNE, LIVINGSTON AND WYOMING COUNTIES IN WESTERN NY. IN 2019, WOOD LIBRARY CIRCULATED 234,252 ITEMS. THE LIBRARY SAW AN INCREASE IN DOWNLOADS OF AUDIO-BOOKS AND E-BOOKS IN 2019 WITH PATRONS BORROWING THEM 39,045 TIMES, A 47% INCREASE. LIBRARY STAFF ANSWERED 2,786 REFERENCE QUESTIONS. WOOD LIBRARY PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. 18,135 PEOPLE ATTENDED LIBRARY SPONSORED PROGRAMS IN 2019, UP 5%. 4,534 YOUNGSTERS ENJOYED 226 EARLY LITERACY PROGRAMS AND 5,512 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN 206 SUMMER READING PROGRAMS, A 7% INCREASE. CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS INCLUDED CRAFT PROGRAMS, STORY TIMES FOR PRESCHOOLERS, PUPPET AND FINGER PLAY ACTIVITIES FOR 2 YEAR OLDS AND LAP-SIT PROGRAMS FOR TODDLERS AND THEIR CARE GIVERS. PROGRAMS FOR OLDER CHILDREN AND ADULTS INCLUDED FILM SERIES, SUPPORT GROUPS, BOOK REVIEWS, CRAFT PROGRAMS, BOOK DISCUSSIONS, AUTHOR TALKS AND SIGNINGS AND VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL LECTURES. ADULTS WHO ATTENDED DIGITAL LITERACY CLASSES LEARNED COMPUTER BASICS AND WERE ALSO INVITED TO BRING IN THEIR OWN DIGITAL DEVICE DURING OPEN TECH HOURS TO HAVE THEIR QUESTIONS ANSWERED. IN 2019, 18,019 LOGIN SESSIONS WERE RECORDED FOR THE LIBRARY'S 20 PUBLIC COMPUTERS, INCREASING BY 7%. PATRONS RELY ON THE LIBRARY'S INTERNET ACCESS TO CONDUCT RESEARCH, WRITE REPORTS AND RESUMES, PAY BILLS, APPLY FOR JOBS, MAKE AIRLINE AND HOTEL RESERVATIONS, APPLY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT, BANK ONLINE, CREATE EMAIL ACCOUNTS AND CHECK EMAIL, TAKE ONLINE COURSES, GET DIRECTIONS AND MAKE A VARIETY OF PURCHASES. WOOD OFFERS FREE WI-FI FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF TRAVELERS AND BUSINESSPERSONS. THIS SERVICE WAS ACCESSED OVER 13,062 TIMES IN 2019.. WOOD LIBRARY HAS A CERTIFIED NOTARY PUBLIC ON STAFF. IT ALSO OFFERS FAX AND COPIER SERVICES. WOOD LIBRARY PROVIDES PUBLIC MEETING SPACES FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS. THE LIBRARY'S 4 MEETING SPACES ALLOWED FOR MULTIPLE GROUPS TO RESERVE 941 TIMES IN 2019, UP 10%. EXAMPLES OF THOSE USING THE FACILITY INCLUDE SUPPORT GROUPS, BOOK GROUPS, POLITICAL PARTIES, SCOUTING ORGANIZATIONS, YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS, THE DAR, TENANTS GROUPS AND HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATIONS, LITERACY VOLUNTEERS AND TEACHER TUTORS, HOMESCHOOLING GROUPS, WRITERS GROUPS, GAMERS AND CRAFTERS. THE AARP OFFERS DRIVER SAFETY CLASSES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND TAX AIDE HELP DURING TAX SEASON WHICH SERVED 622 INDIVIDUALS IN 2019, AN INCREASE OF 12%. WOOD LIBRARY CONTINUES TO EXPAND ITS WIFI HOTSPOT PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS IN THE CANANDAIGUA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BY LOANING OUT 28 HOTSPOTS TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO DO NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AT HOME FOR THE DURATION OF AN ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR. 8 PUBLIC HOTSPOTS WERE ADDED FOR PUBLIC USE. THE OFFICE FOR THE AGING CO-SPONSORS INTRODUCTORY COMPUTER CLASSES FOR INDIVIDUALS OVER 60. WOOD LIBRARY CONTINUES TO LOAN MUSEUM DISCOUNT PASSES FOR LOCAL ATTRACTIONS LIKE AREA MUSEUMS, PARKS, AND ART GALLERIES. WOOD LIBRARY'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE. OUTDOOR FAMILY LAWN GAMES LIKE CORNHOLE, LADDER TOSS, AND BOCCE BALL, WERE INTRODUCED IN 2019. OUR GOAL IS TO BE A COMFORTABLE AND SAFE DESTINATION WHERE PEOPLE CAN STIMULATE THEIR IMAGINATIONS AND CONNECT TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD.
