CAMP - SUMMER CAMP IS AN AFFORDABLE AND SUPERIOR SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN. RESIDENT CAMPERS AGE 7-15 LIVE IN ONE OF THE MOST BREATHTAKING SETTINGS IN THE COUNTRY, WHERE CHOICES RANGE FROM TRADITIONAL RESIDENT CAMP TO ADVENTURE VILLAGE, HORSE AND RANCH CAMPS, FARM CAMP AND OFF-SITE ADVENTURE AND SERVICE LEARNING TRIPS. DURING SUMMER 2019, FROST VALLEY PROVIDED 2,920 CHILDREN OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES WITH THE CHANCE TO DISCOVER OUR LIFE-CHANGING COMMUNITY AT SUMMER CAMP.
RETREATS - FAMILIES AND GROUPS ARE WELCOMED TO JOIN RETREATS, CONFERENCES AND TEAMBUILDING WORKSHOPS FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH JUNE. CAMPERS RANGE FROM YMCA ADVENTURE GUIDES AND GIRL SCOUTS ON WEEKEND RETREAT TO WEEK-LONG PROGRAMS AT FROST VALLEY'S STRAUS CENTER, WHERE ELDERHOSTEL OFFERINGS HIGHLIGHT THE ARTS AND OUTDOORS. STRAUS CENTER ALSO OFFERS A HOME BASE IN THE CATSKILLS FOR CASTING FOR RECOVERY, WHICH PROVIDES FREE THERAPEUTIC FLY-FISHING WEEKENDS TO BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS. DURING 2019-20, FROST VALLEY HOSTED 11,943 PARTICIPANTS IN THESE VARIOUS RETREAT PROGRAMS.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - OFFERED TO SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE TRI-STATE AREA FOR DAY-LONG AND THREE-DAY PROGRAMS IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, TEAMBUILDING AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION. LEARNING ACTIVITIES ARE BASED ON NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY STATE CURRICULUM STANDARDS AND COMPLEMENT CLASSROOM LESSONS WITH HANDS-ON EXPLORATION AND FIELD STUDY OF SCIENCE PRINCIPLES. TEAMBUILDING ACTIVITIES ON LOW AND HIGH ROPES, CABLE BRIDGES AND THE NEW Y CLIMBING TOWER HELP SET THE TONE FOR THE POSITIVE SOCIAL INTERACTIONS AMONG THE STUDENTS THAT TODAY'S CLASSROOM TEACHERS ARE STRIVING TO BRING TO THEIR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES. DURING 2019-20, FROST VALLEY PROVIDED 10,481 STUDENTS, INCLUDING TEACHERS AND CHAPERONES, WITH ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.
