Organizations Filed Purposes: TO MAKE AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES CONDITIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT LEAD TO AN EVER IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO PARTICIPATE FULLY IN THE MAINSTREAM OF SOCIETY. THROUGH THE AGENCY'S ARC IN MOTION INITIATIVE, PEOPLE WHO RECEIVE SUPPORTS THROUGH THE ARC VOLUNTEER AT MORE THAN 100 NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN ROCKLAND AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. FOR MANY YEARS, THE ARC ENCOURAGED BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY TO HIRE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. MORE RECENTLY, THE ARC PURCHASED TWO BUSINESSES IN A PUSH TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE. STRAWTOWN JEWELRY IN NEW CITY, NY AND GLAZE POTTERY AND ART STUDIO IN ORANGEBURG, NY ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. BOTH ENTITIES EMPLOY PEOPLE OF ALL ABILITIES. THE ARC HAS LONG

Individual Residential Alternatives - include a range of options for people including room, board and individualized protective oversight for people with developmental disabilities. Houses and apartment settings are among the offerings.

DAY SERVICES - Day habilitation programs provide people receiving services and supports with an array of opportunities for education, recreation, socialization and volunteerism within the community-at-large. People participate in events and activities throughout the county and surrounding areas. The emphasis is on ensuring that people with developmental disabilities are integral members of society.

CHILDREN'S SERVICES - THE PRIME TIME FOR KIDS PROGRAM SERVES CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO SCHOOL AGE. CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES LEARN SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH TYPICALLY DEVELOPING CHILDREN IN THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM. INFANTS AND TODDLERS ARE PROVIDED WITH A STIMULATING, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM.
