Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE PURPOSE OF SEVEN VALLEYS COUNCIL IS TO COMBAT THE DISEASE OF ALCOHOLISM AND OTHER SUBSTANCE ABUSE. THE COUNCIL SEEKS TO PREVENT THE DISEASE, EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND ENCOURAGE TREATMENT.
The Organization implements successful efforts to diminish alcohol and substance abuse in the Cortland, New York area. Offers community training and education programs on alcohol and substance abuse, clooaborates with local law enforcement to combat underage drinking and substance abuse. Provides programs through local school districts and provides specific substance abuse programs for 72 court-ordered participants.
In accordance with a grant through the New York State Department of Health - AIDS Institute, The Organization provides health and human services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender individuals. Services include competency workshops to local health care providers, creation of safe space materials for local agencies, schools to show support of LGBT individuals, lead peer support groups for LGBT individuals, hosting various workshops and seminars to educate the community on LGBT issues, and publishing in local media to raise awareness to LGBT issues.
