To educate the public on the status of mass incarceration as it relates to underserved youth through art-based education and activities.
Project Attica has been able to take the artivism workshops into neighborhoods where poverty and underfunded education systems are the norm thus being able to bring free art opportunities for children and community members alike reaching thousands of youth in New York City alone. We have spoken about our work at conferences surrounding art, activism and the role they play in dismantling mass incarceration in the United States at the Columbia School of Social Work.
Project Attica has been able to successfully integrate restorative justice circles into our toolbox of services providing communities and groups with the ability to hold their own circles. This model of work promotes healing, well being and unity through story telling and we have been able to offer it to groups who are working through a range of issues to support their members.
