Organizations Filed Purposes: The West Kortright Centre offers a diverse blend of high quality performances, learning opportunities and visual arts exhibits, while preserving its historic landmark church building and bringing together an evolving rural community.

The West Kortright Centre is a community-based not-for-profit arts organization housed in the former West Kortright Church. The Centre provides an eclectic blend of world-class performances, in-depth learning opportunities, and visual arts exhibits.

In 2020, the West Kortright Centres 45th season of arts and community programming was largely presented online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. WKCs staff of three, and an amazing crew of instructors, presented a youth reading workshop of Shakespeare's lesser known works and forged ahead with the 33rd annual youth theater workshop, which concluded with two zoom performances. WKC also hosted a number of virtual workshops for adults and a performance by the Afro-Cuban band OKAN. These online events allowed WKC to expand its reach to an estimated 11,300 households, including viewers in Ontario, Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, California, Cuba, the British Virgin Islands, and Guatemala. When things began to open up, the Centre worked with state officials to safely organize a garden tour, a series of free in-person youth art workshops, and a drive-in concert featuring Amy Helm. From April through October 2020, the organization served over 11,800 residents and visitors and hosted 43 artists and program contributors of diverse interests, backgrounds, and age groups while fostering a sense of community far beyond its remote valley.Program Service Accomplishments:2020s program service accomplishments included the 29th year of Opening Acts: Young Artists Showcase, the 33rd annual young peoples Shakespeare in the Valley performances, informal workshop and performances for children and adults, neighborhood and member gatherings, and the use of our space by community groups. Our community fundraisers included an art auction, as well as a landscape and garden tour.
