THIS PROGRAM IS MADE UP OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: COLLECTION, WAREHOUSING AND DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD TO MEMBER PROGRAMS TO BE GIVEN OUT AS COOKED MEALS OR BAGS OF GROCERIES TO HUNGRY WESTCHESTER RESIDENTS. MOBILE FOOD PANTRY - A PROGRAM TO DISTRIBUTE A VARIETY OF NUTRITIOUS FOODS AT AN AGREED-UPON SITE. FRESH MARKET - A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO SERVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF PRODUCE TO FOOD DESERTS WITH A FARMER'S MARKET STYLE DISTRIBUTION SENIOR GROCERY - A PROGRAM TO DISTRIBUTE PRODUCE WITH SPECIFIC FOCUS ON SENIORS. RETAIL RECOVERY PROGRAM- A PROGRAM WHICH COLLECTS FOOD FROM LOCAL SUPERMARKETS, RETAILERS AND WHOLESALERS THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE GONE TO LANDFILLS. PROJECT GREEN THUMB - APROGRAM THAT WEEKLY DISTRIBUTES OF A MINIMUM OF 2,200 BAGS OF PRODUCE CONSISTING OF 4 VEGETABLES AND 2 FRUITS, WITH ENOUGH PRODUCE FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR FOR 3-5 DAYS. IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020 THE FEEDING WESTCHESTER DISTRIBUTED 16.5 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD.
BACKPACK PROGRAM - THE BACKPACK PROGRAM PROVIDES NUTRITIOUS FOOD/SNACKS TO CHILDREN AT RISK OF HUNGER TO USE OVER THE WEEKEND OR DURING SCHOOL VACATIONS. FEEDING WESTCHESTER CURRENTLY CONDUCTS THE PROGRAM MONTHLY AT 72 SITES IN WESTCHESTER, SERVING OVER 37,000 CHILDREN ANNUALLY. SNAP (FOOD STAMP OUTREACH)- FOCUSES SPECIFICALLY ON SENIORS AND THE HOME BOUND. FEEDING WESTCHESTER ASSISTS WITH THE SNAP APPLICATION AND ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF THE CLIENT. ADOPT-A-PANTRY - A PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES LINES OF CREDIT TO MEMBERS FOR FOOD ACQUISITION.
