Organizations Filed Purposes: ORAL HEALTH AMERICA'S MISSION IS TO CHANGE LIVES BY CONNECTING COMMUNITIES WITH RESOURCES TO DRIVE ACCESS TO CARE, INCREASE HEALTH LITERACY, AND ADVOCATE FOR POLICIES THAT IMPROVE OVERALL HEALTH THROUGH BETTER ORAL HEALTH FOR ALL AMERICANS, ESPECIALLY THOSE MOST VULNERABLE. IT IS OUR VISION TO REALIZE A FUTURE WHERE EVERYONE CAN ATTAIN A HEALTHY MOUTH. OHA RECEIVES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM CORPORATIONS, FOUNDATIONS, AND THE PUBLIC TO ADMINISTER PROGRAMS AND TO PROVIDE ORAL HEALTH RESOURCES, SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.

TO SUPPORT ACCESS TO DENTAL SERVICES, EDUCATION AND POLICY COMMUNICATIONS.

EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION: THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CARIES PREVENTION PROJECT, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES, IS A THREE YEAR PROJECT DESIGNED TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE EVIDENCE-BASED/PROMISING PRACTICE PROTOCOL IN FEDERALLY FUNDED EARLY HEAD START AND HEAD START CENTERS. THE PROJECT AIMS TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF CHILDHOOD CARIES BY THE AGE OF FIVE BY PROVIDING FAMILY AND CHILDREN ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION, BI-ANNUAL ORAL HEALTH SCREENINGS AND FLUORIDE VARNISH APPLICATIONS, WORKING WITH FAMILIES TO ESTABLISH A DENTAL HOME, AND CASE MANAGEMENT FOR THOSE CHILDREN IDENTIFIED AS HIGH RISK.

PUBLICLY FUNDED DENTAL PROGRAM: OHA, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH VESTED STAKEHOLDERS, IS WORKING TO CREATE A NATIONAL MOVEMENT THAT SEEKS TO PRIORITIZE THE ORAL HEALTH OF OLDER ADULTS. ONE OF THE CRITICAL ELEMENTS NECESSARY FOR INCLUSION OF AN ORAL HEALTH BENEFIT IN MEDICARE IS INPUT, ALIGNMENT AND WIDESPREAD SUPPORT FROM AGING, DENTAL, HEALTH POLICY AND MEDICARE ORGANIZATIONS. TO THIS END, OHA IS EXECUTING ON THREE STRATEGIES: ANNUAL MEDICARE SYMPOSIUM, COLLABORATIVE WORKING GROUPS AND COALITION BUILDING.

WISDOM TOOTH PROJECT: ORAL HEALTH AMERICA'S WISDOM TOOTH PROJECT (WTP) ADDRESSES THE GROWING CRISIS FACING OLDER ADULTS BY IMPROVING ACCESS TO AND UTILIZATION OF CARE, INCREASING HEALTH LITERACY, AND ADVOCATING FOR POLICIES THAT PROMOTE ORAL HEALTH EQUITY. IN 2015 OHA EXPANDED PARTNERSHIPS WITH STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND WITH ORGANIZATIONS IN THE AGING COMMUNITY. PARTICIPATION GREW AT "TOOTHWISDOM.ORG", WITH INCREASED RESOURCES FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND OLDER ADULTS.OHA ALSO GREW "TOOTH WISDOM: GET SMART ABOUT YOUR MOUTH", A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND EDUCATION WORKSHOP TO EMPOWER OLDER ADULTS TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR ORAL HEALTH. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE AMERICAN DENTAL HYGIENISTS ASSOCIATION, HYGIENISTS ATTENDED TRAINING AT OHA'S NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS AND THEN LED WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT 5 STATES AT SENIOR AND COMMUNITY CENTERS.
