A community-based not-for-profit agency, the Long Island Network of Community Services (LINCS) worked to enhance the programs of publicly supported health and human service organizations. Through our network affiliations, projects and programs, and the expertise of our management team, we served dozens of community- and faith-based organizations partnering across our two counties (Nassau & Suffolk), New York City and beyond. TO ENHANCE THE PROGRAMS OF PUBLICLY SUPPORTED HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, LINCS ASSISTED LONG ISLAND NON-PROFIT AGENCIES WITH THEIR INFRASTRUCTIRE, CAPACITY BUILDING, FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND JOINT COMMUNITY PROGRAMS IN CONJUCTION WITH OTHER LOCAL AGENCIES REGARDING MAJOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL ISSUES ACROSS LONG ISLAND. LINCS WAS THE OWNER OF A 30,000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING HOUSING THEIR OPERATIONS AND WAS THE HEADQUARTERS FOR TWO OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFIT AGENCIES ON LONG ISLAND. HOUSED IN LINCS' 3,000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING IS A 2,500 SQUARE FOOT COMMUNITY CENTER WHICH IS SPACE THAT WAS DONATED TO LIAAC, WIC AND OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFITS FOR VOLUNTEER FUNCTIONS, CLIENT FUNCTIONS, JOB FAIRS AND EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS.
PROGRAMS FROM 1/2019-7/2019DCJS GRANT:IN JUNE 2019, BIASHELP, A DIVISION OF LINCS WAS FUNDED BY THE NYS DEPARTMENT OFCRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES TO ASSIST LONG ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THEIMPLEMENTATION OF THE DIGNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS ACT (DASA) TO ASSIST IN THE TRAININGOF ANTI-BULLYING COORDINATORS AND TO DEVELOP ANTI-BULLYING POLICIES AND CODES OFCONDUCT INCLUDING ANGER MANAGEMENT AND ANTI-VIOLENCE SERVICES TO YOUTH PROVIDERS.IN 2019 BIASHELP, A DIVISION OF LINCS, CONDUCTED 60 TRAINING/WORKSHOP SESSIONSREACHING 1,500 COMMUNITY MEMBERS. PROGRAM LOCATIONS INCLUDED: MERCY MINISTRIES,SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT, C.W. POST COLLEGE, FARMINGDALE COLLEGE, BAY SHOREMIDDLE SCHOOL, JERICHO LIBRARY, SACHEM PUBLIC LIBRARY, HISPANIC COUNSELING CENTER,AND COMSEWOQUE PUBLIC LIBRARY.TOPICS INCLUDED BULLYING, TECHNO BULLYING, YOUTH VIOLENCE, STEREOTYPING AND CULTURALSENSITIVITY. AUDIENCES OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDED STUDENTS, PARENTS, SCHOOLADMINISTRATORS, COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS, ETC.MY BROTHER'S KEEPER GRANT:IN 2019, LINCS WAS CONTRACTED BY THE HEMPSTEAD SCHOOL DISTRICT SPONSORED BY A MYBROTHER'S KEEPER GRANT TO CONDUCT ANTI-BULLYING WORKSHOPS FOR THE AFTER SCHOOLPROGRAMS IN 3 DISTRICT SCHOOLS - JACKSON ANNEX, FRANKLIN ELEMENTARY AND ABGS MIDDLESCHOOL.FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4B - PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTSOTHER FUNDING SOURCES/EDUCATION PROGRAMS - WEBSITES:OUR WEBSITES LINCS.ORG OFFERED EXTENSIVE INFORMATION FOR THOSESEEKING FURTHER GUIDANCE ON PREVENTING AND COPING WITH BIAS, DISCRIMINATION ANDVIOLENCE WITH 2,429 HITS TO OUR WEBSITE PAGES IN 2019.IN 2019, BIASHELP, A PROJECT OF LINCS WEBSITE (STOPTECHNOBULLYING.ORG) PROVIDEDINFORMATION AND INSIGHT INTO THE TECHNO BULLYING PHENOMENON AND PROVIDED A MECHANISMTO ACCESS SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF TECHNO BULLYING WITH 7,552 PAGEVIEWS.BIASHELP'S FACEBOOK PAGE PROVIDED COMMUNITIES WITH UP-TO-DATE STORIES ON HATECRIMES, BULLYING, CYBERBULLYING, ANTI-SEMITISM, GAY BASHING AND PROVIDES AN ARENAWHERE INDIVIDUALS CAN COMMENT ON POSTINGS AND LINK TO OTHER IMPORTANT SITES.
LINCS WAS THE OWNER OF A 30,000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING THAT RENTED TO TWO NONPROFITAGENCIES ON LONG ISLAND: LONG ISLAND ASSOCIATES FOR AIDS CARE, INC. (LIACC) AND THERESEARCH FOUNDATION OF SUNY AT STONY BROOK. THE BUILDING WAS SOLD ON 2/28/2020.IN 2015, THE WOMEN INFANTS AND CHILDREN PROGRAM (WIC), A PROGRAM THAT IS OPERATEDTHROUGH STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER HAD RENEWED ITS LEASE AGREEMENT FOR AN ADDITIONAL 5 YEARS TO UTILIZE SPACE IN THE LINCS BUILDING. THE WIC PROGRAM PROVIDED LOW-INCOME PREGNANT AND NURSING WOMEN, INFANTS UP TO 1 YEAR OLD ANDCHILDREN UP TO 5 YEARS OLD WHO ARE CONSIDERED TO BE NUTITIONALLY AT RISK WITHSUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITIONALLY SOUND FOOD IN ADDITION TO NUTRITION EDUCATION ANDCOUNSELING AS WELL AS REFERRALS TO OTHER SOCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS.
