Worc conducted intake interviews and completed COMPAS Risk and Needs Assessment on Several female offenders with felony charges Prepared court reports asking for release eligible applicants to WORC program as alternative to incarceration Some participants accomplished the mid-point milestone Some participants completed WORC's six months alternative to incarceration program

The WORC progam funded by the Nassau County District Attorney's office("DA") is designed to help women become self-sufficient and empowered and to divest them from public assistance The effects of long term abuse, vicitimization and post traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) are addressed through personal counseling. This is accomplished through the WORC's six months (24-30 weeks ) structured day reporting program which has been proven effective in the past The following services were provided: Court advocacy for pre-sentence female offenders, educational assistance , vocational services, personal counseling, life-skills workshops assessment and refarrals. Services are administered by licensed New York State staff
