WE AT PEI BELIEVE THAT, WITH INTENTIONAL ACTION, WE WILL SEE: A TRANSFORMATION TO A SAFER, HIGH-QUALITY, AFFORDABLE, ACCESSIBLE, JUST AND PATIENT-CENTERED HEALTHCARE SYSTEM WHERE INSIGHTFUL AND HUMBLE DOCTORS WORK TOGETHER WITH PATIENTS, FAMILIES, OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AND COMMUNITIES TO DRIVE CHANGE; AND DEVELOP A NEW PARADIGM OF SERVICE, PROFESSIONALISM AND LEADERSHIP.

PROVIDE INFORMATION AND EDUCATION TO HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT ISSUES RELATED TO HEALTH CARE, AND FOR THE PROMOTION OF ACTIVITIES AIMED AT IMPROVING HEALTH CARE IN NEW YORK AND THE REST OF THE UNITED STATES.

THE CIR POLICY & EDUCATION INITIATIVE WORKS TO PROVIDE RESIDENT PHYSICIANS, FACULTY, AND TEACHING HOSPITAL EMPLOYERS WITH THE EXPERTISE, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT NECESSARY TO IMPROVE PATIENT SAFETY, QUALITY OF CARE, AND RESIDENT ENGAGEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE. WE AIM TO IDENTIFY AND FOSTER NOVEL SOLUTIONS TO THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF NEW GENERATIONS OF PHYSICIANS. CIR-PEI ALSO OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS TO SHARE THEIR WORK WITH RESIDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY VIA QI GATEWAY AT WWW.QIGATEWAY.ORG. WE HAVE A SPECIAL INTEREST IN DEVELOPING RESIDENT PHYSICIAN LEADERS IN SAFETY AND QUALITY WHO WILL GO ON TO TEACH OTHERS AND LEAD THE WAY IN TRANSFORMING HEALTH CARE IN THE U.S.

THE ORGANIZATION'S ASSISTANCE TO PHYSICIAN'S BURNOUT AND DEPRESSION HAS UNDERTAKEN A RANGE OF ACTIVITIES TO ADDRESS TOXIC CULTURES AND PRACTICES THAT EVIDENCE DEMONSTRATES ARE ROOT CAUSES

IMPROVE RESIDENT WELL-BEING IN THREE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION IS ALSO PARTNERING WITH NATIONAL EXPERTS FROM BRANDIES UNIVERSITY IN RESIDENCY CULTURE CHANGE TO USE THE C-CHANGE RESIDENCY SURVEY (CRS) TO UNDERSTAND HOW RESIDENTS PERCEIVE THE CULTURE OF THEIR TRAINING PROGRAMS.
