The Global Security Institute is dedicated to strengthening international cooperation and security based on the rule of law with a particular focus on nuclear arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament

The Global Security Institute (GSI) is working to build an international consensus on necessary advances in nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament. GSI has identified an agenda wherein an overwhelming number of countries want to take practical steps that downgrade reliance on nuclear weapons, strengthen constraints on proliferation and unite efforts to achieve their universal elimination. Progress on this agenda and development of a consensus will be essential in ensuring the stability of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). In addition, GSI's integrated programs provide the capacity to advance a practical agenda into significant capitals, including those of nuclear weapon states. To advance global security and rule of law GSI has several endeavors:1. Parliamentarians for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament which educates legislators the world over on the importance of ending the threats posed by nuclear weapons by adherence to international law. 2. Middle Powers Initiative which works with other civil society organizations and middle power nations, nations which have intentionally restrained themselves from developing nuclear weapons although they have the economic and technical capacity, to enhance global security by strengthening cooperation, finding common ground, and abiding by the rule of law.3. The Bipartisan Security Group which is an group of US retired diplomats and experts advancing security based on treaties, laws, and diplomatic means by educating and advocating these values. GSI produces policy papers, works with its leaders and volunteers to give seminars, conferences, speeches, books, and media exposure to policies and ideas that advance security, especially related to reducing threats of nuclear weapons, based on cooperation, universal values, and law.
