THE ASSOCIATION FOR METROAREA AUTISTIC CHILDREN, INC.'S MISSION SINCE 1961 IS TO PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY LIFELONG PROGRAMS TO PEOPLE WITH AUTISM, DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, AND EMOTIONAL DISORDERS. THESE PROGRAMS ENABLE THEM TO FUNCTION AT THEIR FULLEST CAPACITIES AND PROVIDE SUPPORT AND RESPITE FOR THEIR FAMILIES FROM THE METROPOLITAN AREA.
EDUCATION AND TREATMENT OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN AND ADULTS
AMAC PROVIDES SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES TO SCHOOL AGE AND PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE METRO NEW YORK AREA WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. AMAC'S PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO EDUCATE CHILDREN WITH AUTISM, ASPERGER'S AND WHO ARE EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED. SPEECH, OCCUPATIONAL/PHYSICAL THERAPY, ART, MUSIC, COUNSELING AND PARENT TRAINING ARE PROVIDED IN ADDITION TO ACADEMIC EDUCATION. OUR GOAL IS TO INTEGRATE THE CHILDREN INTO MAINSTREAM EDUCATION.
