The Authors Guild is the nation's oldest and largest professional organization to serve and protect the interest of writers. The Guild advocates for authors on issues of copyright, fair contracts, free speech and tax fairness, and has initiated lawsuits in defense of authors' rights. We represent authors on Capitol Hill, in state legislatures and before government entities, and we educate and assist our members in connection with the business of writing.

The Guild built and hosted websites for its members, and reserved domain names, submitted websites to search engines, and provided private email addresses.
The Guild's legal staff provided reviews of publishing and agency contracts, suggested negotiation strategies, and intervened in publishing disputes on behalf of members.
