CAREERS THROUGH CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE AND PROVIDE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FOODSERVICE INDUSTRY FOR UNDERSERVED YOUTH THROUGH CULINARY ARTS EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT.
The mission of Careers through Culinary Arts Program is to empower underserved youth through the culinary arts.
Culinary Education and Scholarship Competition- Across C-CAP's six locations - Arizona, Chicago, DC/Maryland, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia - C-CAP works with 15,000 underserved youth to help them pursue educational and professional opportunities via the pathway of culinary arts. These students come from a range of ethnic backgrounds and are often low-income and facing the challenges of poverty. C-CAP culminates its school year program with culinary competitions, awarding more than $2 million in scholarships annually. Hundreds of previous scholarship winners have gone on to distinguished careers in the culinary field and beyond.
JOB TRAINING AND CAREER ADVISING-To help students find the avenue best suited to their interests and abilities, C-CAP facilitates Career Exploration, designed to expose students to the many possible careers available to them, via job shadows, boot camps, and young chefs' academies. Our Career Awareness program focuses on in-classroom demonstrations and presentations, career days, employer workplace tours, and college campus tours. As students complete their education, C-CAP provides job training, internships, apprenticeships for students to put their knowledge to work.
College Access and Advisement- C-CAP provides resources for students attending culinary school, through scholarships earned through cooking competitions, financial education, and advisement on the college entry process, including how to research schools, apply, and thrive in a campus setting. C-CAP maintains an extensive Alumni Network, which provides lifelong support for former students to achieve their professional and educational goals through career advising, alumni scholarships, network events, professional development and mentoring.
