TO CREATE COMPREHENSIVE, EFFECTIVE HOUSING AND SERVICE PROGRAMS FOR HOMELESS AND LOW-INCOME PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY THOSE SUFFERING FROM SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS, HIV/AIDS, AND OTHER DISABLING CONDITIONS.
CUCS' MISSION IS TO END HOMELESSNESS FOR AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AND TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO BE PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES: IN 2019 CUCS PROVIDED ESSENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES TO OVER 4,300 FORMERLY HOMELESS AND LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, ALLOWING THEM TO REMAIN STABLY HOUSED AND WORK TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY. SERVICES INCLUDE CUSTOMIZED CASE MANAGEMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, LINKAGE TO HEALTH, MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE SERVICES AND OTHER SERVICES DESIGNED TO INCREASE INDEPENDENCE. OF THE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES SERVED, 95% REMAIN STABLY HOUSED.
OUTREACH AND TRANSITIONAL SERVICES: IN 2019 CUCS' STREET TO HOME PROGRAM PLACED 150 CHRONICALLY HOMELESS PEOPLE LIVING ON THE STREETS OR IN PUBLIC SPACES INTO HOUSING. CUCS' TWO TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAMS WORK WITH HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS FROM ALL OVER THE CITY TO STABILIZE THEIR CONDITIONS AND PROVIDE THEM WITH THE SERVICES THEY NEED TO MOVE INTO PERMANENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING. IN 2019 CUCS' TRANSITIONAL PROGRAMS HELPED MORE THAN 265 MENTALLY ILL, HOMELESS ADULTS MOVE INTO PERMANENT HOUSING.
TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: CUCS OFFERS TRAINING IN MORE THAN 50 DIFFERENT AREAS OF SERVICE DELIVERY AND IN 2019 TRAINED MORE THAN 14,000 DIRECT SERVICE STAFF FROM MORE THAN 350 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT NEW YORK CITY. CUCS ALSO PROVIDES CONSULTING SERVICES IN PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION, COMMUNITY PLANNING TO END HOMELESSNESS, IMPLEMENTING EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES, AND STRATEGIC PLANNING.
