THE MUSEUM PROVIDES CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AND WORKSHOP PROGRAMS TO THE NEW YORK STATE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS EXEMPT PURPOSE. THE MUSEUM OPENED THE EXHIBIT SUPERPOWERED METROPOLIS ON FEBRUARY 12, 2020 FUNDED BY THE BEZOS FOUNDATION, WHICH WILL BE PILOTED AT THE CURRENT FACILITY AND INFORM A NEWER LARGER EXHIBIT IN THE NEW BUILDING. CMOM HAS ENGAGED AN OUTSIDE EVALUATOR FROM JOHN HOPKINS TO ASSIST IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE EXHIBIT. THE 1,500 SQUARE-FOOT EXHIBIT INVITES CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO 6 AND THEIR GROWN-UPS TO FEEL LIKE HEROES, BUILDING THEIR SUPER-POWERED EARLY LEARNING BRAIN SKILLS TOGETHER. THESE SKILLS, KNOWN AS EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS, INCLUDE SELF-CONTROL, WORKING MEMORY, AND MENTAL FLEXIBILITY. THE EXHIBIT GUIDES FAMILIES ON A SERIES OF NYC ADVENTURES EXPLORING THE SUBWAYS, PARKS, MUSIC, TRAVEL, TREEHOUSES, AND MORE.THE MUSEUM ALSO OPENED INSIDE ART - FORMERLY ART, ARTISTS AND YOU, FUNDED BY THE FORD FOUNDATION AND THE CITY OF NEW YORK, THE PURPOSE OF THE EXHIBIT SPACE IS TO PUSH THE ENVELOPE AND HOW FAMILIES INTERACT WITH THE SPACE. INSIDE ART IS A CURATED MIX OF ART INSTALLATION, STUDIO, AND DISPLAY, WHICH ENABLES CHILDREN TO CRAWL, PEEK, AND INTERACT WITH ART IN DIFFERENT FORMS IN ADDITION TO MAKING THEIR OWN ART INSPIRED BY THE ART IN THE SPACE. TWO ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE ARE STATIONED IN THE EXHIBITION. INSIDE ART OFFERS QUALITY WORKS OF ART AND ACCESS TO THOSE WORKS OF ART AND THE ARTISTS WHO CREATE THEM IN AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT. SEVEN NEW COMMISSIONED WORKS CREATED BY TEN CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS.
