Information and EducationCCCs leverages research, civic engagement, social media and work with traditional media to reach New Yorkers and call attention to the needs of New York Citys children. Our data collection and analysis improve the collective understanding of the conditions in which children and families live, the risk factors that impact their well-being, the presence or absence of resources and assets at the community level and captures and shares data on the lived experience of children and families through participatory research. This work informed the publication of our "Child and Family Wellbeing Index, Keeping Track of New York Citys Children" data book, research on the community of Elmhurst Corona. This research also informed year-round trainings offered to foundations, non-profits, and New Yorkers at large on how data can be used to inform policy, program development, and budget and legislative decisions. In terms of civic engagement, CCCs Community Leadership Course and YouthAction NYC and our Every Child Counts Census outreach campaign reached hundreds of adults and youth through advocacy courses, peer to peer trainings, and volunteer opportunities to participate in state and city advocacy meetings, and community forums. Finally, CCC disseminated research products and information on our advocacy priorities through blog articles, social media posts, and a regular presence in the local and regional press. These efforts brought our data and advocacy messages to more New Yorkers as CCCs social media presence grew across all platforms and a consistent drumbeat of coverage on childrens issues ensured high visibility in print, digital and radio media outlets.

Program and Advocacy CCCs leadership in statewide and city-based coalitions, plus its renowned budgetary and legislative analysis and testimony, resulted in several critical victories that will improve the lives of children. CCC continued its leadership role in the Raise the Age NY Campaign, the Campaign for Children, the NYS Child Welfare Coalition and the Family Homelessness Coalition and launched a new Healthy Kids, Healthy Minds campaign. We conducted ongoing analysis and assessment for both the City and State Budget and legislative proposals, testified state and local public hearings, and met with state and local elected officials and their staff to discuss our advocacy priorities. Our work informed the passage of state legislation that strengthened the child welfare system, the enactment of state reforms that end the use of solitary confinement in Adolescent Offender facilities, and that stopped adolescents from being placed in facilities operated by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. On the local level our work informed passage of legislation that increases access to affordable housing for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness as well as passage of legislation increasing data collected and disseminated on the early intervention program. Our state and local advocacy also resulted in budgets that protect resources for childrens behavioral health care and child health homes, support social workers in schools with high numbers of students in transitional housing or shelter, and restore investments in summer youth employment, summer camps, as well as local educational aid to city public schools.
