COHME's mission is to provide optimum home care services for the frail elderly and to provide fulfilling employment for our Home health aides by providing support, in-service education and opportunities for professional career development and input into agency operations.
1. COHME, Inc. provided home care services to 123 clients throughout four of the five boroughs. The program provided employment to more than 188 staff, most of whom are low income and also provided a social work assistant/career specialist to help with housing needs, legal issues and entitlement assistance. Small loans and assistance to access funds for housing assistance were also provided as needed. 2. 23 staff received additional training in providing care to clients with Dementia diagnosis. In addition, 4 aides received scholarship funds in order to complete further educational degrees or certification for career advancement. 3. 9 caregivers were provided respite services by COHME for free through grant money obtained by COHME or other agencies.
