Classic Stage Company is committed to reimaging classic stories for contemporary audiences. Under the leadership of Artistic Director, John Doyle, it is a home for New Yorks finest established and emerging artists to grapple with great works of the worlds repertory that speak directly to the issues of today. In its 50+ year history, CSC has become a leading Off-Broadway theater that is a home for new and established artists, as well audiences seeking epic stories intimately told. Productions have been cited by all major Off-Broadway theater awards including the Obie, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Body of Work.

The year began with extended performances of the critically acclaimed revival of CARMEN JONES, books and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II (directed by John Doyle). After this sold out run concluded, CSC launched its official 2018-19 Season which included productions of THE RESISTIBLE RISE OF ARTURO UI by Bertolt Brecht (directed by John Doyle), two August Strindberg plays produced in repertory: MIES JULIE adapted by Yael Farber (directed by Shariffa Ali) and Conor McPherson's new version of THE DANCE OF DEATH (directed by Victoria Clark), and Marc Blitzstein's Play in Music THE CRADLE WILL ROCK (directed by John Doyle). In addition to our mainstage productions, CSC continued its educational programming with its NextGen Teen Council and in-school workshops. CSCs acclaimed productions and educational programming made classic theater accessible to over 40,000 theatergoers, students and artists. We continued our Ticket Subsidy efforts including: Access tickets for $20; Student and General Rush; $10 Student Matinees; Group Rates for adults and students; and Discounted Memberships for students.
