FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020, 46 PERFORMANCES/PUBLIC EVENTS WERE GIVEN BY OVER 39 ARTISTS AND COMPANIES, AND APPROXIMATELY 685 REHEARSAL HOURS INCLUDING 10 RESIDENCIES WERE PROVIDED. (ADDITIONALLY, 27 EVENTS BY OVER 33 ARTISTS AND COMPANIES, AND 225 REHEARSAL HOURS INCLUDING 2 WEEKS OF RESI

PRESENTING DANSPACE PROJECT (DSP) HAS LONG FOSTERED THE WORK OF A DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF DANCE ARTISTS AT VARIOUS STAGES OF THEIR DEVELOPMENT, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON LOCAL NEW YORK CITY ARTISTS. DSP COMMISSIONED NEW WORKS FROM 6 CHOREOGRAPHERS IN 2019-20 AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM: KAYLA FARRISH, JERRON HERMAN (WITH MOLLY JOYCE), SAM KIM, MELINDA RING, DEVYNN EMORY, AND IELE PALOUMPIS. WEEKLONG PRODUCTION RESIDENCIES WERE AWARDED TO ALL OF THE ABOVE ARTISTS AND ALL PRESENTED PERFORMANCES, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF EMORY AND PALOUMPIS WHICH WERE CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19. AKI SASAMOTO RECEIVED THREE WEEKS IN THE SPACE FOR HER INSTALLATION/PERFORMANCE, AND DSP PRODUCED A COMPANION PUBLICATION FOR HER WORK. AUTUMN KNIGHT WAS ALSO PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STUDIO MUSEUM OF HARLEM, AS WELL AS MULTIPLE ARTISTS THROUGH THE MOVEMENT RESEARCH FESTIVAL AND DRAFTWORK WORKS-IN-PROGRESS SERIES. FOOD FOR THOUGHT SHOWCASES WERE CANCELLED DUE TO THE MANDATORY SHUTDOWN PER COVID19, AS ALL OCCURRENCES OF THIS SERIES WERE PLANNED FOR SPRING 2020. ALL ARTISTS WHOSE PERFORMANCES OR EVENTS WERE CANCELLED WERE COMPENSATED IN FULL. THESE ARTISTS WERE INVITED TO MAKE DIGITAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO DSP'S WEBSITE, OPTIONALLY.

PLATFORM SERIESDANSPACE PROJECT'S (DSP) TENTH PLATFORM, 2020 PLATFORM: UTTERANCES FROM THE CHORUS, OPENED FEBRUARY 22, 2020. CO-CURATORS OKWUI OKPOKWASILI AND JUDY HUSSIE-TAYLOR, ALONG WITH NEARLY 70 COLLABORATORS, ARTISTS, AND PERFORMERS, INVESTIGATED HOW THE VOICE AND BODY CAN BE A SITE OF RESISTANCE AND TRANSFORMATION. THE SERIES INCLUDED: SATURDAY CONVERSATIONS (2/22, 2/19, 3/7); A COMMISSIONED INSTALLATION-PERFORMANCE BY OKPOKWASILI AND PETER BORN, "SITTING ON A MAN'S HEAD" (2/28, 3/6); A COMMISSIONED PERFORMANCE OF "RANT #3" FOR AN INVITED AUDIENCE BY RALPH LEMON (2/29); AND A SHARED EVENING OF WORK BY CHOREOGRAPHERS NACERA BELAZA AND MERYEM JAZOULI (3/9-10). BELAZA RECEIVED A WEEK-LONG RESIDENCY AND HELD WORKSHOPS IN FALL 2019 AND OKPOKWASILI RECEIVED A TWO-WEEK RESIDENCY PRECEDING THE PLATFORM. PLATFORM EVENTS DREW 577 IN-PERSON VISITORS AND GARNERED PRESS FROM THE NYTIMES, THE BROOKLYN RAIL, AND OTHERS. AS PART OF THE PLATFORM, DSP PUBLISHED A PRINT CATALOGUE, RELEASED AN ALBUM (IN VINYL AND DIGITAL) BY OKPOKWASILI, AND SHARED WRITING BY SELECTED WRITERS-IN-RESIDENCE ON ITS ONLINE JOURNAL. INITIAL WORK BEGAN ON A TEN-YEAR ANNIVERSARY PUBLICATION EDITED BY MAURA NGUYEN DONOHUE. AFTER MARCH 11, 2020, DSP CANCELLED IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING DUE TO COVID19. COMMUNITY ACCESS DANSPACE PROJECT (DSP) OFFERS INDEPENDENT CHOREOGRAPHERS AND COMPANIES OPPORTUNITIES TO SELF-PRODUCE, AND OFFERS SPACE FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ORGANIZE RESIDENCIES AND NON-PUBLIC PROGRAMS AT A SUBSIDIZED RENTAL RATE IN OUR VENUE AT ST.
