TO ADVOCATE AND PROMOTE SOCIAL LEADERSHIP, COMMUNITY ACTIVISM AND CITIZENSHIP.
DOSOMETHING.ORG IS THE LARGEST NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND SOCIAL CHANGE. OUR DIGITAL PLATFORM IS ACTIVATING MILLIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO CREATE OFFLINE AND ONLINE IMPACT IN EVERY U.S. AREA CODE AND IN 131 COUNTRIES. DOSOMETHING MEMBERS PASSIONATELY SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES EVERY DAY DOING SEEMINGLY SMALL THINGS THAT CREATE A CASCADE OF IMPACT ACROSS DOZENS OF CAUSE SPACES; THINGS THAT IGNITE A MOVEMENT AND CHANGE PEOPLE'S LIVES FOREVER. DOSOMETHING.ORG HELPS YOUNG PEOPLE CREATE IMPACT THROUGH THE OVER 300 CAMPAIGNS ON OUR WEBSITE. EACH CAMPAIGN IS BASED ON IMPACT RESEARCH THAT IS VERIFIED BY ACADEMIC RESEARCH, A STRATEGIC PARTNER ORGANIZATION WITH CAUSE EXPERTISE, OR A REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE. THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGHOUT 2020 DUE TO THE U.S. NATIONAL ELECTION AND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC POSED A POWERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO DRIVE REAL CHANGE:- NEW STATE OF MIND. YOUNG AMERICANS ARE MORE STRESSED OUT THAN EVER, AND NEARLY HALF OF GEN Z SAYS THEY AREN'T DOING ENOUGH TO MANAGE STRESS. WITH COVID-19 AFFECTING OVER 52 MILLION STUDENTS IN THE U.S. AND MILLIONS MORE AROUND THE WORLD, IT'S UNSURPRISING TO SEE AN EVEN GREATER NEED FOR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT AT THIS TIME. DOSOMETHING ANSWERED THE CALL WITH NEW STATE OF MIND, A MENTAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN WE DESIGNED TO SPECIFICALLY INVITE YOUNG PEOPLE TO SHARE TIPS FOR TO PRIORITIZE MENTAL HEALTH DURING COVID-19. WE RECEIVED 74,129 RESPONSES FROM DOSOMETHING MEMBERS, AND WE USED THEM TO CREATE A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND CROWDSOURCED MENTAL HEALTH GUIDE THAT'S BY AND FOR STUDENTS. - DISRUPT RACISM. THE SOCIAL UNREST ACROSS AMERICA IN 2020 COMPELLED US TO INCREASE OUR PORTFOLIO WITH MORE RACIAL JUSTICE CAMPAIGNS. IN JUNE WE CREATED AND LAUNCHED OUR DISRUPT RACISM EFFORT, WHICH GARNERED 70,162 PARTICIPANTS DURING THE YEAR. THIS CAMPAIGN PROVIDED STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO START A CONVERSATION WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT HOW TO ACTIVELY BE ANTI-RACIST AND DISRUPT RACISM IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES BY HAVING DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS WITH PEERS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF RACISM.- NO-SEW MASKS. THROUGH THE NO-SEW MASKS CAMPAIGN, DOSOMETHING MEMBERS HARNESSED A POWERFUL AND LIFE-SAVING TOOL TO FIGHT THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS. THEY MADE AND DISTRIBUTED 37,360 DIY MASKS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC TO KEEP THEMSELVES AND THEIR LOVED ONES HEALTHY AND SAFE.- TEENS FOR JEANS. ALMOST 40% OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN THE UNITED STATES ARE UNDER 18. ONE ITEM THEY COMMONLY REQUEST IN HOMELESS SHELTERS IS A PAIR OF JEANS. THIS MEMBER-FAVORITE CAMPAIGN GALVANIZED SOCIAL LEADERS IN SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO MOTIVATE THEIR PEERS TO GIVE BACK TO OTHERS BY RUNNING JEANS COLLECTION DRIVES IN NEARLY 5,000 SCHOOLS. IN TOTAL, OUR MEMBERS COLLECTED AND DONATED 132,295 PAIRS OF JEANS TO BE DONATED TO YOUTH EXPERIENCE HOMELESSNESS. THIS CAMPAIGN WAS RECOGNIZED BY SHORT SOCIAL GOOD AWARDS, A YOUTUBE STREAMY SOCIAL GOOD AWARDS, AND AN OMMA AWARD BY MEDIAPOST.- GET OUT THE VOTE. DOSOMETHING LAUNCHED A YEAR-LONG NON-PARTISAN EFFORT TO INCREASE YOUTH VOTER REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION. IN TOTAL, WE REGISTERED 255,991 NEW VOTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN ADDITION TO OUR VOTER REGISTRATION WORK WE DROVE PARTICIPATION THROUGH PROGRAMMING TO EDUCATE AND ACTIVATE OUR MEMBERSHIP AROUND MAIL-IN-VOTING AND ABSENTEE BALLOTS. OUR GET OUT THE VOTE WORK WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE CIVVYS: THE AMERICAN CIVIC COLLABORATIVE AWARD COMMITTEE'S CHOICE CATEGORY.IN ADDITION TO OUR CAMPAIGN RELATED PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WE CONTINUE TO HAVE STRONG FINANCIALS FOR THE 14TH YEAR IN A ROW, WE RECEIVED 4 STARS ON CHARITY NAVIGATOR; LESS THAN 1% OF CHARITIES RECEIVED THIS RANKING FOR 14 CONSECUTIVE YEARS.
