SINCE ITS FOUDING IN 1973, THE MISSION OF DOME PROJECT IS TO ASSIST YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE ECONOMICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND ACADEMICALLY CHALLENGED TO FOCUS ON THEIR EDUCATION AS A MEANS TO SUCCESS. OUR OVERLL GOAL IS TO PROVIDE YOUNGSTERS WITH ALTERNATIVES
THE BRIDGE TO SUCCESS PROGRAM IS AN EXTRAORDINARILY SCCESSFUL AND COST-EFFECTIVE EFFORT THAT FOR OVER 25 YRS HAS KEPT THOUSANDS OF YOUNG OFFENDERS FROM REPEAT CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AND PREVENTED THOUSANDS OF AT-RISK YOUTHS FROM EVER BECOMING INVOLVED IN CRIME. THE PROGRAM SERVES AS A UNIFYING SOURCE OF SUPPORT TO YOUNGSTERS THROUGH COUNSELING, COURT ADVOCACY, SUPERVISION, AND ASSISTANCE WITH EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL, MENTL HEALTH, HOUSING, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE PLACEMENT. THE PROGRAM SERVES APPROXIMATELY 100 YOUTHS EACH YEAR AND IS WIDELY RESPECTED BY ALL SECTORS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. IT IS THE GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE THE YOUNGSTERS WITH INTENSIVE THERAPEUTIC INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSLING SO THAT THEY AVOID CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OR BEING RE-ARRESTED AND BECOME PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY.
THE WEST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD COMMONS WAS DEVELOPED BY DOME PROJECT AT THE DEHOSTOS COMMUNITY CENTER, A NYC HOUSING AUTHORITY FACILITY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STRYCKER'S BAY NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL. THE COMMONS IS FOCUSED ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND EXPANDING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIED FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH FROM KINDERGARTEN THRU HIGH SCHOOL. SERVICES INCLUDE AFTERSCHOOL & SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAMS FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS; AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL CHILDRE
THE COLLEGE ACCESS INITIATIVE ASSISTS STUDENTS WITH ADVISORY SERVICES IN GAINING ENTRY INTO COLLEGE & PREP SCHOOLS THROUGH ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES. COLLEGE ACCESS INITIATIVE (CAI) SERVES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL FOR ARTS, IMAGINATION, & INQUIRY, LOCATED IN THE MARTIN LUTHER KING EDUCATION COMPLEX & AT THE LEGACY SCHOOL FOR INTEGRATED STUDIES. CAI PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE SOUNSELING SERVICES INCLUDING RESEARCHING & VISITING COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES, COMPLETING APPLICATIONS,
