Organizations Filed Purposes: AS A VITAL EAST HARLEM EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT CENTER, EHTP WORKS WITH STUDENTS FROM EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH ADULTHOOD TO PREPARE THEM WITH THE ACADEMIC SKILLS, STRENGTH OF CHARACTER, AND SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING TO EXCEL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE, TO LEAD IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND TO REALIZE THEIR BEST POSSIBLE SELVES.

ELEMENTARY PROGRAM & TEACHING RESIDENCYEHTP'S ELEMENTARY PROGRAM SERVED 178 STUDENTS IN GRADES K-5, PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH AN INTENSIVE AFTER-SCHOOL CURRICULUM THAT EMPHASIZES LITERACY AND MATH COMPLEMENTED BY A VARIETY OF ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AIMED AT SPARKING LIFE-LONG PASSIONS. ELEMENTARY PROGRAM CLASSES ARE LED BY A COHORT OF HIGHLY-QUALIFIED TEACHERS IN TRAINING FROM EHTP'S EAST HARLEM TEACHING RESIDENCY. EACH RESIDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING, WRITING AND DELIVERING CONTENT-SPECIFIC LESSONS TO ELEMENTARY OST STUDENTS. RESIDENTS PROVIDE INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS FROM 3-6PM, MONDAY-THURSDAY, SET ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIORAL GOALS FOR THEIR STUDENTS, AND MEASURE THEIR STUDENTS' GOALS TO PROGRESS ON A REGULAR BASIS. FURTHERMORE, RESIDENTS FOSTER STUDENTS' SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH AND IMPROVE ACADEMIC BEHAVIORS THROUGH DAILY STRUCTURED CLASS MEETINGS AND REGULAR ACTIVITIES THAT HONE IN ON THE CORE VALUES OF EHTP, SUCH AS SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP.

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMEHTP'S HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM SERVED 141 STUDENTS IN GRADES 9-12.. OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN YEAR-ROUND COLLEGE PREP, ACADEMIC, AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES CLASSES THAT BOOST WRITING AND SCIENCE SKILLS, SAT TEST PREPARATION, ASSISTANCE WITH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS, FINANCIAL AID COORDINATION, MENTORING, AND COUNSELING. STUDENTS IN EHTP'S HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM TOOK A RANGE OF ELECTIVE COLLEGE AND CAREER-READINESS COURSES SUCH AS MEDACHIEVE, OUR 2-YEAR MEDICAL CAREER EXPOSURE PROGRAM OFFERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TOURO COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE AND ETHP-DEVELOPED FILM, WRITING, AND STEM COURSEWORK. WE PILOTED A SCHOLARS SERVICE CLUB WHERE THE EHTP VOLUNTEERS AND INTERNS TEAM ASSISTED OUR 9TH AND 10TH GRADE STUDENTS IN FINDING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE EAST HARLEM COMMUNITY. THIS CLUB WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS TO GET INVOLVED IN THEIR COMMUNITY, WHICH WE ANTICIPATE WILL INSPIRE THEM TO BE INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE LONG TERM. THE CLUB WAS DISCONTINUED IN SPRING 2020 AS WE SHIFTED TO REMOTE PROGRAMMING.WE CONTINUED TO OFFER COLLEGE SUPPORT INCLUDING COLLEGE ESSAY WRITING, TUTORING AND SAT PREPARATION, AND ENRICHMENT COURSES FOR GRADES 9-12. EVERY RISING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WAS PAIRED WITH A VOLUNTEER MENTOR AND RECEIVED SUPPORT WITH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH. DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON COLLEGE VISITS TO EXPLORE VARIOUS CAMPUSES AND LEARN MORE ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE. IN SEPTEMBER 2019, SCHOLARS VISITED SKIDMORE COLLEGE (SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY); SAGE COLLEGE (ALBANY, NY); AND SUNY ALBANY (ALBANY, NY), AND IN FEBRUARY 2020, MANHATTANVILLE COLLEGE (HARRISON, NY) AND LEHIGH UNIVERSITY (BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA). WE ARE PROUD TO REPORT THAT 100 PERCENT OF OUR 35 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL AND WERE ADMITTED TO TWO-YEAR OR FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMEHTP'S MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM SERVED 115 STUDENTS IN GRADES 6TH-8TH. AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL, OUR CURRICULUM INCORPORATES FAMILIES IN THE PROCESS OF HELPING THEIR CHILDREN GAIN ADMISSION TO COLLEGE-PREPARATORY HIGH SCHOOLS AND FULLY PREPARES 8TH GRADERS FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE. THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL, COUNSELING AND TUTORING SERVICES TO HELP STUDENTS AND FAMILIES NAVIGATE THIS PARTICULARLY CHALLENGING TRANSITIONAL PERIOD. STUDENTS TAKE PART IN ROTATING, PROJECT-BASED ACADEMIC ELECTIVES COURSES. ELECTIVE COURSES ARE DESIGNED AROUND STUDENT AND STAFF FEEDBACK DURING POST-YEAR REFLECTION AND ANALYSIS. DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTICIPANTS ATTEND THE PROGRAM FOUR DAYS PER WEEK FOR 3 HOURS MONDAY-THURSDAY, WITH ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING OFFERED IN THE EVENINGS AND ON SATURDAYS.
