THE SUMMER ROAD TRIP. THE CHARITY WAS A PRESENCE AT SEVENTY-SIX MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL GAMES. VOLUNTEERS DISTRIBUTED AWARENESS AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, BLUE WRISTBANDS, AND T-SHIRTS. THE TEAMS MADE PA ANNOUNCEMENTS DURING THESE DESIGNATED GAMES ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PROSTATE CANCER SCREENINGS. ED RANDALL AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CHARITY TRAVELED TO MANY OF THESE GAMES, THROWING OUT THE FIRST BALL AND TAKING PART IN LOCAL NEWSPAPER, RADIO, AND TELEVISION INTERVIEWS TO SPEAK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING TESTED. MORE THAN 250 MEN RECEIVED PSA TESTS/SCREENINGS FOR PROSTATE CANCER IN LATE SEPTEMBER AT YANKEE STADIUM. COORDINATED WITH NEW YORK/COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER. BOTH BLOOD TESTS AND DIGITAL RECTAL EXAMS WERE MADE AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE FOR ALL MEN ATTENDING THIS GAME. OVER 400 MEN (OR THEIR CAREGIVERS) WHO CONTACTED FANS FOR THE CURE WERE REFERRED TO A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES, INCLUDING UROLOGY, SURGERY, REHABILITATION, AND COUNSELING. MORE THAN 150 OF THESE WERE SPECIFICALLY SEEKING SECOND OPINIONS. PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:ED RANDALL'S SPEECHES ON BEHALF OF THE CHARITY AND MEN'S HEALTH MET WITH ROBERT FOX, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER OF THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, FOR ACS REVIEW OF FANS FOR THE CURE WEBSITE AND TO PROMOTE ACS'S HEALTH LODGE. CO-SPONSORED A PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING WITH THE TAMPA BAY RAYS FOR OVER 200 MEN. DELIVERED KEYNOTE ADDRESS TO THE NEW YORK GU PROSTATE CANCER CONGRESS IN NEW YORK CITY. EMCEED ANNUAL JOE DIMAGGIO DINNER, SPOKE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MEN GETTING TESTED. TALKING BASEBALL SERIES AT THE SVA THEATER (THREE EVENINGS), ADDRESSED AUDIENCE ABOUT PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS. MET WITH THOMAS GRECH, PRESIDENT OF QUEENS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, TO PLAN OUTREACH IN HIS BOROUGH'S UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. ADDRESSED OWNERS, EXECUTIVES, AND COACHES OF MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL AT WINTER MEETINGS IN LAS VEGAS. ADDRESSED HAZELTON INTEGRATION PROJECT DINNER IN HALZELTON PA, SPOKE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCUSSING PROSTATE CANCER WITH ONE'S PHYSICIAN. SUMMER ROAD TRIP (SEE PART III).
